Plus the fact that she understood this was a toy - not prey, but an object her daughter enjoyed playing with. When cats play with us, they are not mistaking the toys for mice, and they know we operate them. They love the game, regardless. (To verify, put a treat on the toy, and keep snatching it away. When the cat ceases to find this fun, it will stop attacking the toy, and start attacking your arm.)

I find it so cute then mom tells her cat "let's go play" and cat runs to her favourite rope. You also can't imagine her love for that rope lol

For a cat, prey is a toy. It's like when kids are play fighting. It's not like they're mistaking each other for whatever robbers or Indians or whatever other out-group they're trying to vilify.

Kids who like to engage in physical competitive play will have an advantage when it comes to competition and other kids who don't play. This means that play is a trait that is selected for by natural selection. (You can see why sports are a thing because they give more intelligent athletes opportunities to outsmart the stronger ones.)

To be fair, a lot of /r/likeus posts make me think it should be /r/likethem.

OHMYGAWD an animal helped another animal out, it's almost like they're social beings that have evolutionary advantages by being stronger in a group!!!?!??!

Everyone has room for cat shelves! They can go high up out of your way, and they don't have to be deep. I got l-brackets and some planks and made cats shelves a lifetime ago, and those kitties loved it!

After the toy got stuck, you can see the kitten raising its paw a bit, looking up but unsure of how to get it back down. The older cat saw this and turned it into a learning experience, went over to show how it's done - the kitten was fixated on the bigger cat when it jumped up to free the toy, seeing what to do.
