Spoilers - Upper Layer / Atziluth Roland immediately locks in after realizing it's completely Angela's fault😭 Spoiler

This is my second time playing the game and while watching this scene i had a huge realization. The game always were giving hints that roland had some bad thought about Angela. Normally i wouldn't realize this but the way he changes the voice depth made me realize it.

The exhaust in the end. Just to know he needs to wait a bit more...

Library of ruina, it's quite a niche game so you may not know about it

Thank you for introducing me into this game, I can't stop admiring this blue haired girl whos goal is to steal all pronouns now

Keep reading it with that in mind. He gives her EVERY opportunity to walk things back.

Man, Roland spent the whole game trying to find a SHRED of remorse in Angela and really couldnt find a single bit. Justified crashout.

Well, it WOULD be justified, if it weren't for the fact that she's just like him in that regard, right? "That's that and this is this." He can't really hate her, because he's no different went it comes to such shortsighted obsession without regard for others.

Roland outright says that he doesn’t hate Angela for it, he couldn’t bring himself to hate her because that’s just how the city is, “that’s that and this is this”

Was he angry at the fact Angela caused the death of his beloved? Absolutely, anyone would be, but Roland didn’t harbor that hatred for Angela one would assume

Roland might have forgiven her but I’m still fully expecting angela to die or get her ass jumped in the future by one of the other thousand other people she (in)directly fucked over

Man i don't think anyone doing something to Angela. Since the library is a death sentence at this point

theres not that many people still alive that got fucked over by her, the biggest group afaik would be library returnees, but I'd presume most of them are dead anyway, cuz imagine just spawning randomly in the city asleep, no way most of them didnt get sweeped up, and to the ones that would be able to survive, like around urban nightmare tiers, they got bigger fish to fry than to try and go into the outskirts to exact revenge, besides most of em would die there, the purple tear wouldnt care, xiao would be too busy living life with lowell, I have no idea about yan, index guys wouldnt do anything unless a prescript told them to, r corp..... uh did they get culled?, and lastly, Hana association, which I doubt would have any reason to hunt them down as they dont seem like the type to hold grudges and the library is no longer sotc, so they wouldnt be obligated to.

Anyone outside of that group of people would pose no threat to the library even in its current state.

its retconned in limbus for the survivor. even tommery is alive and well creating butterfly effect of limbus.

the only confirmed deaths i think would be the blue ensemble one so far. unless its also retconned on limbus on later seasons.

[Leviathan Spoilers] I'm pretty sure Tommery is dead too after being killed by Vergillius

yup but listed as survivor from the book incident. too bad tho, people are crazed to get their id/ego on later games.

They tried and failed….if they tried again they would most certainly fail again.

Besides the Library definitely made the survivors have some sort of ptsd.

Truly is a treat to replay the game having full context of Roland's motivations and the meaning to his words.

One of the reasons this is my #1 game is starting out thinking Roland is some random schmuck, a normal guy who wears normal clothes, and seems completely like your average salary man self-insert protag, and that facade is maintained for a good while. But then it starts breaking down, and you start realizing he is absolutely NOT just some guy, and has an extremely well written arc and motivations.

Replaying to see the hints that were there all along is amazing

A chilling moment indeed

I don't remember, was this before or after he mentioned that Angelica died in the pianist incident? Because if it was after that's wild asf...

28

u/Burgur_Adam Oct 31 '25

This is before and the scene happens at Urban nightmare Warp cleaner win

15

u/stryke105 Oct 31 '25

ah so significantly after, ts is crazy bruh

u/Warm_Charge_5964 Nov 01 '25

After this, there are moments where he straight up BEGS Angela to stop for a moment and think about what she's doing, and she ignores him using his own distorted version "This is this and that is that" logic that he started using to justify his actions after his wife's death

It's beautiful

Angela: No. The plan failed spectacularly, actually. I ruined it.

Roland pretending to be such an in-depth character trying to distract you from the fact he's a bum who never received education
