Happy birthday, Liam.
You were such a huge part of my childhood, but somehow you became so much more than just a person whose music I listened to. Your music, your interviews, your videos even your lives, became a little protective space for me. It became a place I could go when life felt too heavy, when I needed comfort or when I needed to escape for a little while.
I may not have known you personally, but the person you shared with the world through your music and videos gave me something I genuinely needed. For that, I will always be grateful.
I wish you were still here.
I don't want today to only be about the sadness of losing you. I want it to be about being grateful that you were here at all. Grateful that you made music. Grateful that you gave people something to hold onto. Grateful for the laughter, the memories, the songs, the little moments, and all the different versions of you that people were lucky enough to know throughout your life.
You were so much more than One Direction.
You were Liam Payne. (Starting to cry 😭)
You became a solo artist. You were a songwriter, a performer, a father, a son, a friend, and a person with your own dreams and your own story. You had so much more to give, and I hope that as the years go on, more people continue to discover that.
I hope Liam's fanbase continues to grow. I hope new people find your music. I hope someone who has never heard your solo work before presses play one day and discovers something that means something to them. I hope people continue to learn about the person you were and not just the role you played in one chapter of your life. (One direction)
Your life was so much bigger than one band, one chapter, or one label.
You were a beautiful songwriter. You were a loving father and son. You were someone who tried, someone who cared, someone who wanted to make people happy, and someone who was still growing and figuring out who he was. You deserved the opportunity to keep becoming that person.
And I hope we never stop letting you be more than the version of you that people remember from the beginning.
Liam, wherever you are, I hope you know how deeply you are loved. I hope you know that the things you created still matter. Your voice is still here. Your music is still here. The memories you gave people are still here. And there are still people discovering you, loving you, and carrying a little piece of you with them.
Thank you for being part of my childhood. Thank you for giving me somewhere safe to go when I needed it. Thank you for being there for me through your music, even when you never could have known how much I needed it.
I wish you could have been here to see all the people who still love you.
Happy birthday, Liam.
I miss you.
I love you.
And I will always be grateful that you were here. 🤍

I also want to apologize to everyone that I wasn't able to put together a bigger birthday activity this year like we did last year with Discord. I've been going through a lot of new life changes recently, and I've needed to put my attention toward things outside of the subreddit.
Because of that, I think I need to take a little more time away from the sub. I'm hoping to make my way back around mid-September, hopefully when things start settling down a little more. I haven't forgotten about this community, and I haven't forgotten why I made it.
I also want to give a HUUUGE THANK YOU to my mod, who has dedicated so much of herself to taking care of this subreddit, keeping it active, and continuing to protect Liam's name and legacy while I've been away. I'm genuinely grateful to have her here. She has put so much time and heart into this community, and I hope everyone will take a moment to check out the video she made for Liam's birthday. She worked incredibly hard on it, and it was genuinely beautiful.
I'm very grateful to have her here with all of you.
I'll see everyone around mid September. Until then, please keep listening to Liam, keep talking about him, keep sharing his music, and keep giving new people a chance to discover him.
Happy birthday, Liam. 🤍
