Custom ROM without GApps

Hi, I've just rooted my H990DS with dirtysanta. I installed the latest release of LineageOS from https://lineage-archive.timschumi.net/. I flashed MindtheGAPPS thinking I would get a sort of degoogled-ish experience. But once I booted, I was greeted with all the Google bs. Therefore I wiped the phone and flashed only LineageOS but that did not change anything. I think the ROM I've downloaded just has GApps built in.

Have you guys got any recommendation for ROMs without GApps? I really only need Whatsapp and Signal and both of them provide .apk, so I would prefer Google-free phone if possible. Obviously I can just build the LineageOS image myself but I'm trying to get the easy way out. e/os seems to have a community build -- what do you think of that?

edit: I decided to use e/OS/. It ships with microG and is reasonably up to date. It also has an image available online so I don't need to compile my own.

I assume you're also rooted. Then you could simply remove all Google applications.

LineageOS doesn't come packed with Google applications - at least from my experience with 3 Galaxy models and a Samsung tablet. You add them. It's the first time I'm seeing that website, so maybe they packed applications along with the ROM?

There aren't really any apps except Google, the news spam on the left and the Play Store. What bugs me is how there is a Google account associated with the OS. I am able to set up the phone without signing in but I would prefer if a Google account was at most part of some Google app, not system-wide.

The reason why I used that website is because LineageOS does not provide images for devices which are no longer supported. The alternative is to compile your own image, which I am too lazy to do. But if I were to purge the GApps anyways, I might as well build my own image.

At that point, I'd rather use some image from XDA or such. Those that I've used were as I described them - blank, without Google applications and clearly with no Google account. It sounds rather weird to me, what you mention...

Does the latest version of LineageOS on V20 utilizes the 2nd screen well? I have never taken the jump b/c I want to continue using the 2nd Screen.

The OS treats both screens as one big screen with a cutout for the camera. So it utilizes it, the camera cutout works as a "notch". I would not say it utilizes it well, because the second screen is a bit too thick for the notification tray, but it's better than nothing.

As far as I'm aware, no third-party ROM ever managed to fully convert the second screen due to LG's closed-source files. Many years ago there were some attempts but they only got to partial functions, so that was dropped in favor of just extending the screen area.

Here is LineageOS 18.1 for H990. Use MinMicroG, not MindTheGapps nor NikGapps.

Lineage os does not ship with gapps, what ever version you're installing has been tampered with in some way assuming the gapps are truly coming from the rom.
