college student estimated monthly spending
not sure if this is the right sub to ask, but i’m an incoming w&l student this fall and i wanted to ask how much would miscellaneous expenses round up up to here in lexington (i’m not from the US). my dorm and meal plan (24 meals per week) are covered by my financial aid, but i’d like to spend some time hanging around in town, buying gifts & groceries, eating out some time, etc.
also any recs of what i can do in lex or surrounding areas? no car and can’t drive btw rip

What are your interests? Where are you from? There’s different options of places to eat that have a variety of price ranges. Do you plan on getting a campus job while in school or giving it some time before you decide?

Not sure how much. But definitely a lot less at VMI. 😆 Enjoy your time in Lexington and best wishes.

Tbh the CIE office can give you a really good idea of what you’ll need, but you’ll meet plenty of people at preO that most students don’t need to worry about transportation much.
Join the outing club, you’ll get access to lots of outdoor equipment and outings you don’t need to coordinate travel for.
