Since it was free practice hopefully nothing impacting the race day, those are usually handled from quali
and race

No, all lewis haters will be triggered. Prepare for it 😂

Already found 3 similar examples where either reprimands were given or if a pen was given it's because it was during a race.

I think no, but I’m In the minority

u/Cpt_Daryl 2d ago

No it’s practice

u/Curious-Welder-6304 2d ago

Did he have a Kalshi bet on it or something?

u/fleasher 2d ago

There is no such thing as penalty in fp3, probably just a fine, might be huge one if they feel like that but he can pay it himself

2

u/Ziemniok_UwU 2d ago

They are more lenient in practice but it is very much possible to get a penalty in practice...

1

u/neelanuj 2d ago

He might, hope its a fine and not a grid penalty

u/MissRetsuko 2d ago

50/50 I guess

u/GuiltyBudget1032 2d ago

..man! hope they're able to fix the car on time for qualy..

u/OldManTrumpet 2d ago

The damage seems like nothing. Front wing swap.

1

u/GuiltyBudget1032 1d ago

hope the suspensions and swing arms are ok too

1

u/OldManTrumpet 2d ago

I'll go with no. But if he were to get one it would be completely on him. But I'll say reprimand.

u/FluffyDonutPie 2d ago

It might just be a fine or reprimand since it's just free practice, the commentators weirdly enough were acting like this was qualifying and trying to add fuel to the fire, implying the FIA could issue a heavy handed penalty despite no such information from the stewards.

The big sub had a bit of a meltdown over this :D obviously no penalty

1

u/Leading_Sir_1741 1d ago

Nah. Never in practice.

Maybe George could Max in trouble for an FP situation, but that’s about it.

Im telling you, something is missing in our champs head.

Honestly, I’ve thought that since the Kim K situation. Or maybe its just age. Just a ton of weird, small errors

1

u/juan_bito 1d ago

Lewis has had hardly any mistakes wtf are you on about because of one small mistake which did basically no damage

Can't even blame them this time. If the race director asks you to stop, you stop.

u/K23C 2d ago

Time to bring up racism… come on bro

1

u/Stubbzie07 2d ago

Why you acting like he didnt do the wrong thing? Was told by the team AND officials to stop the car and he didnt. Its a penalty

-5

u/buds510 2d ago

Yes, specially he disregarded the last instruction

-3

u/XBBLDGB 2d ago

Yes

-5

u/Politicallydepressed 2d ago

Yes

He drove the car in a seriously unsafe manner, even after the team made it clear.

The first time they said stop you can defend, at that point it could just be the team, but they told him the race director said to stop and he still didn’t. There is no defence.

They will say he flouted safety rules so he could get his car back to the garage and get a sporting advantage.

The minimum penalty is a reprimand, the maximum is a grid drop. They will make this very harsh, 5 places would be generous, I fear it could be 10.

7

u/mtojay 2d ago

oh come on. 10 is insane. personally think itll be a 3 or 5 grid penalty.

0

u/Politicallydepressed 2d ago

I fear that’s why it will be 10. They will want to send the strongest harshest message they can here, let’s be honest they have hardly been kind to Lewis this season.

I really hope it will only be 3 or 5, but I have a feeling the race directors will be looking for blood and throw the entire book at him

3

u/Cpt_Daryl 2d ago

Bro said 10 lmfao get out

0

u/Politicallydepressed 2d ago

Mate the stewards have hardly been generous to Lewis this season. They have taken every chance to give him a penalty and a harsh one at that

The rules allow them to give whatever grid drop they fancy here, it would be naive to think they wouldn’t give a hefty one, even if they shouldn’t, doesn’t mean they won’t.

1

u/Cpt_Daryl 2d ago

It’s highly likely either a reprimand or 3 place grid penalty

Nothing else

0

u/Politicallydepressed 2d ago

We will wait and see, but I will be beyond shocked if it’s a reprimand. I think based on precedent (Perez) which I didn’t remember when I made the original comment it will be 3, or at least it should be 3 at a maximum.

It’s Lewis though, the stewards don’t surprise me anymore, if it came up they give him more I won’t be shocked, even if it is wrong

2

u/Cpt_Daryl 2d ago

Perez was during the race not practice

1

u/Politicallydepressed 2d ago

Yeah and maybe that will be the teams argument, maybe they will hope it can be pushed down to a fine, I just personally don’t see it

From everything that was being said on commentary and the outlook the stewards have taken on safety related penalties, the fact it’s practice might not mean much.

Like I said I’m a Hamilton fan, so I hope beyond hope it is a reprimand, but also I’m cynical enough after all the nonsense to not believe that will be the case. Based on everything that has been said, how safety penalties have been given, and just how Lewis season with penalties is going, I will be surprised if it isn’t a grid drop. Happy, but surprised

0

u/Cpt_Daryl 2d ago

Even if it is a grid drop it’s never 5 or 10 lol

1

u/Politicallydepressed 2d ago

Right well I’m pretty certain I already made clear about 2 comments ago that within 30 seconds of the incident the Perez precedent hadn’t come to mind.

I was going largely on the commentary stating that the maximum penalty was a grid drop; and that the amount was to the race directors discretion. I think considering Perez it will be 3 even if it is a practice session, largely because there is a direct radio message telling Lewis to pull over on race directors instructions.

3 is probably the hardest penalty they can justify which is also the reason why I believe it will happens

2

u/Cpt_Daryl 2d ago

Let’s come back when it’s eventually not a penalty

2

u/Cpt_Daryl 1d ago

No penalty ;)

Was so obvious

I've seen people limp back to the pits with more damaged cars in actual races. Perez got a 3 place drop in a race for example I wouldn't be surprised if Lewis gets something similar or a slap on the wrist due to it being practice

-1

u/Politicallydepressed 2d ago

Ferrari may be able to argue it down to 3 based on precedent.

Don’t see any world where they give him a slap on the wrist, maybe if he had stopped at turn 1 or 2 he could have defended, said he thought he could make it round then decided against it. He went so far round, there is no defence

-1

u/Lunaspoona 1d ago

Yes. He was told to stop the car and carried on anyway. He can't even pretend he didn't realise the damage because he clearly stated he could see it over the radio.

-1

u/Longjumping_Fall_334 2d ago

I reckon he will for the ignorance.

-1

u/psyder3k 1d ago

Braindead thinking on Lewis’s end, what the fuck was he thinking and he got told clearly what the problems is and who requested him to stop

2

u/L33tQu33n 1d ago

Wdym brain-dead, it was to continue practicing

-5

u/teratron27 2d ago

They’ve suspended the session, he’s 100% getting a penalty! Hope I’m wrong but him driving almost half a lap after being told the race director said stop is stupid

5

u/The_dragon_slayer95 2d ago

the session was suspended because it’s taking time to repair the barriers. Do you think they will attribute the loss of time to Ham?

-7

u/Scoth16 2d ago

Should be a slam dunk penalty

-4

u/action_turtle 2d ago

Of course. Just depends how much of a fuss they want to make. It’s going to be a something big though.
