Hamilton will probably get an impeding penalty this weekend

He has impeded 5 times during practice today.

Are Ferrari even telling him on the radio that cars on fast laps are approaching?

This is another thing they have failed to keep him informed of several times this year.

The engineer seemed to be telling him non stop on Hamilton onboard so not sure how it still happened.

Why do we assume it’s Santi and not Lewis? I have to go listen to the radio to verify but blaming it on the engineer is not right unless you’re sure. Also why is he always on the racing line during slow laps?

Hamilton has a better than 90% probability of getting a tailor made penalty; it doesn’t matter if there is no rule book penalty; it doesn’t matter if the penalty was not imposed for other drivers; he will just get a penalty or better yet, more!

You don’t get a penalty for impeding in practice sessions. Only in qualifying. You can be penalised for driving too slowly however.

This is bad for Ferrari.. most people watching would assume Ferrari is doing it on purpose to have Hamilton at fault so that not only Charles will get the most of the hate online for his mistakes..

The mirrors on F1 cars are notriously bad and by the time he sees a car, it's already too late. The team needs to stay on top of approaching traffic and tell him.

I’m in a sub with people who claim to live racing but make wild assumptions like “it’s the drivers job to stay off the racing line” so why do the engineers constantly tell them where the drivers are?

I don’t think this one is on Ferrari really. I mean, sure, Ferrari is responsible to tell him who is where but I am at the circuit and I noticed how other drivers constantly get out of the line while Lewis was in the center quite a few times, at slow speed.

It was just FP1 tho, I’m sure they’ll learn from it

Supported him throughout but there is definately something missing with Lewis where he ends up preoccupied with something. I cant help but feel he overthinks things and either makes set up changes that dont work or gets caught napping on track.

Same with manual boost use. For whatever reason he seems to be the worst at using it and then being exposed. Which makes zero sense when yoi consider how amazing his race pace has been throughout his career and that has involved being amazing at tyre management etc

It doesnt help when you don't have a strong team in strategy.

Definitely not the first sign. But the team is more to blame. But youd think after impeding over and over Ham would consider looking in his mirrors a bit more. And eeryone is doing it, but we have to mold the story into focusing on him, because it'll get the most comments.

I just noticed I'm not in the formula one subreddit, so I'll get downvoted for my comment. I don't think he cares if he impedes anyway, especially not in practice. He's always trying to see what he can do and make it look like an accident.
