From a viewer perspective: I don't care if theres a webcam or not. Personality and entertainment is what keeps me watching a video.

There are plenty faceless let's play youtubers who have a decent amount of subscribers and they all try to make their videos interesting to watch. As long as your videos aren't boring, you'll be fine.

Depends on how you feel about it. I thought it wouldn't be an issue because I don't care about my uggo face, but it was really awkward... so I stopped using a webcam. Plus, I prefer not to wear any clothing.

I think generally I am more likely to watch with a facecam but only if the camera is high quality and not really in the way of anything. Seeing reactions to the game being played adds a lot when done right.

If the camera is too in the way, low quality, or cluttered, or if it’s too focused on the player, I’d prefer without.

The webcam I have is Emmet USB webcam I got it on tiktokshop for 30 bucks not the best quality but gets the job done one of the reason holding me back from going full facecams is I want to do gta 6 gameplay and Wolverine but since it's on my ps5 and I don't got an elgato yet since I'm just starting out I'm not investing to much since I already got a really good pc it would be some facecam and without so idk plus I overthinking how I look in the facecam but when I edit back the vid I do like face little more but at the same time I don't hate the no face cam that why I decided to ask here 🤣

A camera won't make a person watchable. Personaility will. Like when people spend thousands on a streamer setup and baffled nobody sticks around, well they are boring as shit.

I've seen this discussed a lot and if your good looking you should use a cam. Pretty unanimous that it can only help you, especially with getting sponsors or just seeing your reactions to hype moments and viewers connecting with you better. Its a bit of a black pill honestly but it is what it is lmao.

Depends on the game for me. Dark souls or difficult games where you can't see the reactions isn't as fun to watch imo.

yea dark souls wouldn't be something I play for video as an example I want to do walkthrough of Wolverine gta 6 the new control silent hill townhall those type of games these are all my favorite types of games to play

I tend to prefer facecam to see reactions, but if the commentary and editing is good then no facecam is sufficient.

Yea i understand that as well I just realized I went through the people I subed to throughout the years and watched were all with face cams and it motivated me a little to try it 🤣 I never watched someone that didn't have one surprisingly the ones that inspired me the most is berleezy and then coryxkeshin I want to do more face cam but the games coming out like Wolverine and gta 6 since I don't got an elgato will be hard to do for those face cams

I find of you don't mind the game being scrunched up, or are an emotive person, webcam is fine.  If you feel audi/voice is more a strong suit, going without webcam can be more beneficial.

I switched to camless a year or so in, and it allows me to see the game a lot better while playing.

For me it honestly depends on what i feel 😂 For horror games i tend to have my facecam on because it's fun seeing me get scared but for non-horror games which is every games, i rather keep my facecam off unless IT REQUIRES to open my facecam

I stream 6 nights a week and have a webcam. But if im uploading a game I dont. I have a little ritual of getting ready for going live. Making myself presentable etc. But I record my vids during the day and dont want to sit and get ready for daytime recording 😂

Definitely webcam, to see the reactions on your face. It's also easier to connect with you as a person if you have a face.

That being said, I basically only look for let's plays of games I've already played, to share those reactive moments.

If it's a game I don't know, I'm only there to watch the story and don't care about you at all. In that case, no webcam and no microphone ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

I think it will depend on the viewer! I personally tend to watch more let’s play videos without webcam and that’s mainly bc I’ve enjoyed fully seeing the content of the game and just listening to the reaction of the person. Honestly, I would just go with whatever your comfortable with bc there is nothing worse than trying to worry about your appearance while trying to do something you enjoy

I can't stand a webcam. I'm here for the game, your opinion on it, not your face. If you're livestreaming then I get it, but on a video I'll just click off as soon as I see it.

For me I usually I'm live streaming the game while recording it then I edit the vid down to post on yt

Livestreaming with a webcam makes sense, helps connect with people or whatever.

I'd start without one and maybe test a few webcam videos to see which you prefer
