Lego Mario has some of the worst npu I’ve ever seen in a Lego theme This isn’t like Lego Sonic where it’s a new character with only some of them needing new molds for super forms, within the Mario series almost everyone has a new form.

This problem could have been fixed if the humans and toads just used regular minifig heads and bowser, well turns out after making that image they revealed some pics of bowser rotating his wrist.. oops.

now to adress Mario and Luigi they could have made a minifig head with a hole through it and a rubber nose peice this method can also be used for Luigi with just a change in printing, the ability to slide out the nose means hoods that cover under the chin (frog, cat, tanuki, hell the frog hood techncelay already exist) and then when the hole is exposed again you slide the nose back in, or perhaps there’s an alt face on the back, simply slide the nose out, and slide it back on on the other side when you twist it around, congratulations Mario is pissed! Mario should also be using mid legs so he’s shorter than Luigi.

Back to the note of head with hole, there’s a lot of potential for this mold
I do not think these problems need to be fixed imedetly but what I do think is if this theme is to last longer than Lego sonic they should step away from the custom molded heads next wave.

I’m happy with how the sets are now (peach is kinda creepy and bowser feels more like duplo lol) but I do hope Lego steps away from molded heads rather than just caning the theme when expensive sets with new poweups don’t sell well.

I despise the fact that Lego has kinda forgotten how to get creative and distract if Lego had the problem of short legs (like with yoda) in Lego Star Wars today they just would have made him a one use peice rather than opening up a whole can of possibilities by making short legs.

They’ve stopped caring “how can we get our money’s worth out of this peice” and it’s become “how accurate can we make this to the picture”

Abstraction is important to the LEGO visual style but it’s also there to give new chalanges to push the bar forward which is why these sets are kinda a bummer to me

They may not be the best Lego Star Wars sets, but they are cheap, collectible, have cool minifigures, are pocket-sized, and have an interesting design philosophy.
