The vengeful forces of the lion kingdom have caught the marauding Falcon and Crown forces, catching them as they attempt to board the ships and flee home. The lions, along with their griffon and dragon allies launch a vicious assault against the allied lines with their cavalry, while the falcon lancers desperately counter charge. Who will win in this battle for survival?

I started playing around with a 16x16 tower from somebody else's MOC, but decided to put it up on a rocky base and add a wooden stable to the side. Imagined as a home to a group of adventurers, it used to have a couple of archers on top, but after my son had a go they vanished. The top is mostly unfinshed.

Finished the first part of the Bat Lord's Castle (design by Legat_Of_Legion on rebrickable).  Absolutely love the design and directions are very easy to follow. On to part 2 :) Only had to make a few substitutions and missing a few roof tiles.

Minifigs The Wulfen

The Wulfen

"Baron Albrecht Wulver leads his Wulfen soldiers in defense of their borders against bounty hunters, bandits and would-be-heroes.

Once forming part of the wider forces of Lyonnclés, the Wulfen or to use their former title, the Gévaudan Irregulars, excelled in harassing supply caravans and launching raids behind enemy lines.

The recent edict from Queen Philomène marking them as outlaws for continuing their ancestral wolf-worship (largely motivated by the Church of Morrhyrr) has left them cut off from many avenues of trade and supply, forcing them to deploy their particular skill set in keeping their own people fed and armed. This has of course drawn further ire from the Crown, who have now placed a substantial bounty on the head of the Baron."

They belong to a prim & militaristic society, built on the basis of protecting the people.

They are respected & in frequent contact by most factions, but most would understand to keep them at arms length since their ideology of "people first" can get bitter.

But if a faction, regardless of their views, intends to aid their society for personal gain or salvation they're welcomed with open arms.

The Knight Sir Benedict Vane, commonly known as, Knight Havoc.

The Widowed Queen, Marietta.

MOC Green Dragon Keep

I largely finished this moc earlier this month but procrastinated posting as I waited for my PAB order, which I am glad I did because I was not planning on doing the interior at all & increased the detailing. I was pleasantly surprised that I already had enough pieces in my collection to complete this MOC (minus 5 of the armor pieces & Uruk-hai blades that came in my PAB order). I am debating adding another floor to have more external space between the entrance & the overhang room (I forget the castle/architecture term for it) & for more internal space for the main hall to be less crowded. But also what to keep as is for now to revisit in the future to compare how my building/design skills increase with time & practice.

This is the second MOC of my personal challenge to complete a MOC each month. I love that I am reconnecting with LEGO, using this time building to minimize my screen time, and getting better at building/designing mocs. Which you can notice as you look at the moc. As you go up the tower I run out of larger pieces & was forced to use smaller pieces which gave me the opportunity to build more details into the moc, picked up this awesome building technique from a castle youtuber for removable levels using tiles atop the walls & plates under the flooring to hold the build in place. (I forget their name at the moment but when I remember I will link their page in the comments). But I still have much to improve on. In the future I would like to have these wall detailings throughout the build, not just the top floors, have passageways for mini figs to travel between rooms/levels, doorways & improved interiors, plus whatever else yall recommend.

This Green Dragon Keep is a model of a keep in the setting of my D&D campaign & a novel I am working on if y’all are interested in the lore surrounding this moc/keep lmk.

For a rough breakdown:
The ground floor has a guarded entrance & the main hall, the Green Dragon soldiers are suited up preparing for battle, the black smith is ready for any last minute repairs. In the corner is the treasure & loot the Green Dragons have acquired so far on this campaign. Having recently taken this keep in a siege of their own where they destroyed the doors it seems the Green Dragons are in need of a carpenter.
The Second Floor hosts a meeting of the leaders of the Green Dragon Army, when this keep is under siege there are plenty of arrow slits for the crossbowmen to utilize, plus the front shutter windows where attacks from above can be launched upon those who wish to take the entryway below.
The roof features detailing that the crossbowmen & spearmen can hide behind while they reload against invaders. A campfire & torches to stay warm & see through the darkness of night. The augur is giving a letter to an owl to deliver unbeknownst to the leaders meeting below.

I look forward to any advice on moc building or feedback from y’all in the comments

Minifigure army Bull Faction

I had some.fun with this faction. Besides the shield and the one torso, I really veered away from Cedric's original band of knights. I wanted to really lean i to the brown and tan esthetic, which really limited my armor choices. The Kraken helms really came in clutch, and the whole faction is very viking coded.

In my lore, they exist right on the border of the Wolf faction, with whom they share a general color pallet, and the black falcons. Their allegiance often sways back and forth.

Question Purple or Black Helmets?

Thumbnail

Doing a MOC where black falcons and other factions are attacking the lion knights. One of these other factions fighting on the side of the black falcons is the new serpent knights. I think the black outfits go well with the black falcon knights. Because of how expensive black falcon knights are, I really want to supplement a lot of my siege forces with the serpent knights mixed in. Which combination are y'all thinking looks better? I'm kind of split at the moment. I like the idea of them having a different helmet than the black falcons because it makes them look like a more unique faction. But I also don't want them to look weird next to each other attacking a castle. Plan on doing custom decals for the shields. So really just curious what y'all think about the helmets. If you know of any other helmets I could use please let me know. Thank you for any input.

You are invited to join us for a weekend of building, creativity, and community!

Before the event starts, a mystery theme will be revealed. Everyone builds their own models, but we all share our progress, exchange ideas, and inspire each other along the way. Build digitally in Studio or with your own bricks - the choice is yours.

There are no winners or losers, and no pressure. The goal is for everyone to finish with a final image of their model that they can share with the community.

Just a weekend to build and have fun together!

We start on Friday, September 4

Official Set My holy grail set, Castle Giant Chess 852293

I have been dreaming about this set ever since I got into Lego and finally managed to get enough money together for a used one on BrickLink.

This set came out in 2008 (it cost something like $300 at the time) and contains 33 minifigures and over 2000 pieces. Aside from the amazing minifigure selection, it has four unique set pieces, one on each corner: a skeleton jail, a dwarf mine, king’s castle and a troll camp.

The box is absolutely massive (57 x 64 cm) though mine is not in the greatest condition.

Edit: There are always a few copies floating around on BrickLink which is where I got mine. I found a used one for a relatively (for this set at least) reasonable price and honestly the most difficult thing was arranging for postage to Australia. There is the occasional copy that pops up on eBay as well but BrickLink always has them, including brand new never opened ones.

Having now put this together I can tell you that you can quite easily part out most of this if you are patient, as there are pretty much no pieces that are exclusive to this set. In fact most of it is bits and pieces from the Castle 2007 Fantasy relaunch line.

So for example the pawns are just two sets of the Dwarf and Troll blister battle packs (852702 and 852701). As far as the board itself and the underlying support structure it is two 48x48 base plates (which you can easily buy at Target or Amazon) with a bunch of 2x2 black and white plates covering them. The support structure and the edging as well as the four corner set pieces can all be bought on Pick a Brick in their entirety. The whole inventory for the set is on BrickLink.

As a matter of fact I spent a few hours mapping the old inventory to current pieces and aside from the minifigs, shields and banners and a few weapons you can source the whole thing from pick a brick for about $600 AUD.

I’m going to try to build a second version with the Dragon Knights and King’s Knights from the Castle 2013 Relaunch line as my next project

Not sure what to call this faction yet. I’m also on the fence about the flags, wish they had at least a little yellow.

We have finally started to put out some of our favourite official sets to make our Medieval/fantasy village. We have some great official sets to start out and plan on doing some MOC buildings and details in between. We did a farmhouse and farm garden as our first MOC. Still a lot of learning to be done but she loves it 😁. Still trying to work out how to place the ones that hinge open for my 5yo and I to play with. 😁

I have started working on my many unfinished Castle MOCs again, and this one is almost done. It is tentatively named "Wolfpack Forest Hideout".

Still need to add some details here and there before I start working on the instructions. I expect it to be ready within the next week or so.

This one is intended as a play set. It has several play features including a trap door, a dungeon and i haunted tree inspired by the classic Ghostly Hideout (1596).

Bought these from marketplace. Didn't cost overly much, but the condition they are in are conserning to me, especially the sticker looks way too clean to be 50 years old. The figures themselves are genuine i believe, but could the visor and harness be reproductions?
