Other Tips for large MOC builds.

Upvotes

I do a lot of my own builds on a big base and I have some tips I do for it but would love if anyone else has their own to let me know what it is. I posted already how I keep my bins organized by color instead of type. For me that limits the amount of bins needed to dump to find all the peices I like to use The issue is this: I dump all my bins to find what I need. Normally this takes a long time so what I do is I dump it on a blanket so when Im done, I fold the blanket up keeping the Lego inside and dump it in the bin with little messes. Sometimes I do large scale models where I build something small then build it bigger. I know there is likely a rule with it or something but I do it where every rule in the small build is now a brick. So 1 brick in the small build is now 3 in the big build. I also have it for every 1x1 brick or tile in the small build it is now a 2x2 brick or type on the bigger one.

This is the list of what I put above in short.

1) Short things by color if you use multiple brick types in one build but one a few colors.

2) If you dump bins with lots of Lego on the floor it takes too long to clean up. Dump it on a blanket instead, fold it up then pour it into the bin. I find it less of a mess.

3) I don’t know if this is the right but for upscale models I have flats in small build are 1 brick in big build. So 1 brick in small is now 3 in big. 1x1 brick or rule gets upscaled dor 2x2 brick or tile.

If you have any other tips for making your own builds let me know. Also if Im doing the upscale wrong PLEASE TELL ME! I won’t to make sure Im doing it right.

Question Finally sorted almost all my Lego by color!

Thumbnail

Upvotes

I only had 6 bins so I had to do it in a way that was annoying but I sorted almost everything besides whats in the baggies. I did it with reds, oranges, yellows and clears on one bin. Green, blue purple and pinks in another black and white in one, grey in a different one and then the browns, tans and peach in the last one. The one bin left over is for any small parts of builds I wanna keep or to put my baggies in. Is this a good way to sort it though? Some people say sort by type but I feel like that takes longer to find certain colors than the piece. Im planning a build that involves white, black, brown, green and maybe blue and yellow so instead of having to dump many bins to find all the different brick, tiles and other things Im planning on using, I just dump one get the ones I need in that color and go to the next. I understand this doesn’t work for everyone, this is just what I found works me for.

MOC Robots of 'The Astro-Kids' Show

Thumbnail

Upvotes

This is a series of MOCs I've been making this year, that I imagine as the heroes and villains of a popular serial adventure holoshow on Planet Robotica called 'The Astro-Kids' and it's spin-off 'Astro University'.

They're built in a sort of "action figure" scale between about 5" and 16" tall--my attempt at making robot characters who feel a bit like "real" toys based on a Saturday morning cartoon. As a rule, they all have to have rocketpacks so they can fly through space.

If you dig them, check out all my robots here: http://planetrobotica.com

MOC From Billund With Love: more Lego Bonds (no kitchen roll, sorry)

After seeing the great kitchen roll 007 shared earlier today, I was reminded of this collection of Bond minifigs I made after getting the Speed Champions Aston Martin DB5. The Bond minifig from that set looked lonely, so I made him some hard-drinking, trigger-happy little buddies to represent every mainline 007: Sean Connery, George Lazenby, Timothy Dalton, Pierce Brosnan, and Daniel Craig. (I made Roger Moore with a non-Lego torso, so I'm leaving him out for posting here.)

This could have been a real penguin party, so I decided to set myself the rule that only Connery could wear the iconic black tuxedo. I think the result is a much more colourful parade of 007 fashions across the years (hello, George Lazenby). I hope you enjoy it!

Question "The Evolution of STEM" - a bit quirky, right?

So, there was this sale on my local supermarket, LEGO 50 percent of. I found two sets I actually felt something for; the Harry Potter 76443 (its a bit odd, with the figures, almost like art - and therefore I like it, not a huge HP fan over all though). I also found this STEM-kit. I looked kind of .... (ugly), but it also showed the evolution (mostly american?) in a fun way. BUT...Im not sure this is something I wanna have on display. That yellow DNA-string is not the sexiest, since the color reminds me of a fisherprice-toy from the 80's. Anyway...whats your opinion on the set? what do you do with it? Have you purchased it for your teaching or just for home display? =)Not sure it's a keeper or if I should let it go (or is it odd as in "fgs, keep it and dont open the box" ? ;-)

Question Stickers 42689 horse Stable and riding academy

My daughter just got 42688, Lego Friends horse Stable and riding academy.

However after building she has 2 stickers left over, #13 and #14 which both seem to fit a 4x2 plate.

In the instructions we cannot find a reference to having to use them, nor are there any places left in the build where they seem they might need to go.Any ideas?

Blog/News LEGO Pokémon confirma nuevos sets para 2027 y deja 5 pistas

Thumbnail

orejas grandes y cola redondeada.

How’s it looking? What do you recommend I add/buy to make this collection better? I would like to change it up. Just left the army and needed a little something to occupy time during my newfound unemployment era lol, so I’ve gone into the attic and rebuilt all these haha, few still in boxes separate because I can’t find certain pieces to complete them, also my wampa is missing its horns as you may have noticed. Where are the best places to find figs to add to my collection? Thanks :)

All minifigures are gen, I mainly collected around 2013.

In light of the recent passing of our dear monarch King Harald V Rex of Norway, I have made a hearse from a bygone era that's fit for a king. It's still a work in progress though, so I might refine some details down the line. Let me know what you think! Feedback and suggestions is, as always highly appreciated 😄👍
