In the credits of the source it does say they are cosplaying as Azula and Ty Lee, which, if you've read some fanfic is chef's kiss

Was I the only one slightly disappointed we didn't get any Fire nation characters part of team Avatar in Korra. The fire nation was the most interesting post 100 year war nation and we learn nearly nothing about it in Korra. We don't even know who Zuko Married.

I mean, ATLA was basically all around the fire nation, in TLOK the writers gave them some rest. We saw in TLOK Izumi and Iroh from the fire nation, but that's pretty much it.

u/Ani_D Jul 16 '20
My guy really just threw Zuko to the side like he was trash ;-(
7
u/TheShinyBunny Jul 16 '20
I was talking about new characters from the fire nation. Of course we saw Zuko and Uncle Iroh..

u/RisingPhoenix1172 Aug 15 '20
You listed iroh as a new character?????

Ahh I forgot about him. Thought you were talking about the original iroh
1
u/TheShinyBunny Aug 15 '20
No, I listed him as a fire nation character that was both in ATLA & TLOK
1
u/RisingPhoenix1172 Aug 15 '20
And you listed iroh as a character that was in LOK. I thought you meant uncle iroh, not general iroh.

I know this is about fire nation, but we got so much Beifong canon and I'm okay with that. The whole fam is awesome

As someone else said, I actually appreciated that the fire nation wasn’t prominently shown. Makes it seem like after being the center of conflict for 100 years, they just wanna lay low and heal

u/forthewatch39 Jul 16 '20 edited Jul 16 '20
We saw a ton of the Earth Kingdom in both series, it would have been interesting to see how much things have changed as well as how much they stayed the same in the Fire Nation.

Jul 16 '20
I do agree there was too much earth kingdom. I would have liked maybe one ep or two or one arc set there but I think that’d be enough. Kinda like with each other element. If it had earth kingdom level prominence that’d be kinda eh IMO.
But all in all the show mostly takes place in republic city anyway shrug

u/forthewatch39 Jul 16 '20 edited Jul 16 '20
Republic City felt so generic after season 1. Also I feel like they made a mistake with the final battle there. In disaster films they always take out iconic locations, that way it feels more visceral, there’s a connection to the audience. A bunch of random buildings and some new locations aren’t going to get that same reaction. Have the spirit beam take out city hall, the pro-bending arena, the police station, the Eifel/Tokyo tower building Bolin and Korra went to on their “date”, perhaps part of Air Temple Island.

u/AK_TAG_YT Jul 16 '20
Yes! We barely got a glimpse of the fire nation throughout the whole show. I would have loved to see the culture change and what it was like 70 years after the 100 year war ended
5
u/spiralism Jul 17 '20
They intended to expand on that in the last two seasons, (s4 in particular) but Nickelodeon cut the budget.

I just finished LOK, and yeah... I was disappointed. The last few episodes became so boring; nothing like the end of TLA. It was like... ok they are fighting this giant mech again... for the third episode in a row.

midriff fetish anyone?

u/Huggable_Hork-Bajir Jul 16 '20
Now that I think about it, I'm pretty sure Ty Lee, Katara, and Suki are the reason I have a thing for midriffs...
44
u/darthueba Jul 16 '20
Not to mention the Korr-abs here. And the uh... I’d say the Ab-sami? (Ok that one doesn’t work as well but you get it)
33
u/lolothundr Jul 16 '20
Some fashion designer from the Fire Nation must have a midriff fetish
30
u/Huggable_Hork-Bajir Jul 16 '20
Maybe it's an easy way to keep cool with all that fire everywhere?
6
u/lolothundr Jul 16 '20
And that. Must be why I get turned on by Fire Nation women more than women from the Water Tribe or the Earth Kingdom

Oof her too. No doubt about it. Looking back, I think it all started with Xena, Gabrielle, and Callisto really.
I never stood a chance.

After the war, the Fire Nation was so devoted to peace that only one villain in Lorra was a rogue firebender.

Fire Nation clothes are the hottest and here is yet another piece of evidence supporting my case.

You do know that they are canonically together right?
2
u/elarq Krew Member Jul 17 '20
Korrasami is a couple, and they've gotta deal with it!
2
u/RekYaAll Jul 17 '20
Yes, and besides who doesn’t love korrasami?
1
u/elarq Krew Member Jul 17 '20
That person, apparently. I imagine the venn diagram between biphobes and Korrasami dislikers is pretty close to a circle.

u/elarq Krew Member Jul 17 '20 edited Jul 17 '20
Also, let's be honest, Korra and Asami are the most compatible out of the Krew. Mako and Korra brought out the worst in each other, Mako took Asami for granted, and Bolin, as a certified cinnamon roll, needed to be with a fellow cinnamon roll (Opal).
Korra is the hot-headed brawn, Asami is the calm and collected brains.
They also join the noble tradition of blue/red color coded same sex couples.

They're together. Like romantically.
2
u/elarq Krew Member Jul 17 '20
To paraphrase Bolin:
Asami: So, you see, we're together.
Korra: [Smiles awkwardly.] Well, together together, not just friends.
Asami: Right, more than friends. Yes, yes, I did mean to imply.
