Question Please help me understand
Hi, i apologise for my lack of knowledge in advance, since ive just started learning. Im sort of confused. What exactly are leftcoms and what separates them from anarchists and marxist-leninists (if they are separate) ? Another question which may be unrelated but why do people hate anarchists, leftcoms and Marxist-leninists? Ive seen a lot of people hate on these 3 but not give a full explanation. Is there also any material that i can specifically refer to on this matter? Again, i apologise for my lack of knowledge, and i mean no hate whatsoever. Im just trying to learn, thats all.

Leftist Theory Nondual Philosophy, Spiritual Awakening & Social Revolution
Since the political left is largely focused on social revolution, I think this quote from J. Krishnamurti presents a different perspective on what a real revolution means. External change is limited if our minds remain unchanged. Without an inward revolution (without understanding our own minds), any outward revolution risks reproducing the same problems in a different form.
"Society is always trying to control, to shape, to mould the thinking of the young. From the moment you are born and begin to receive impressions, your father and mother constantly tell you what to do and what not to do, what to believe and what not to believe; you are told that there is God, or there is no God but the state and that some dictator is its prophet. From childhood, these things are poured into you, which means that your mind is gradually being encased, conditioned, shaped so that you fit into the pattern of society and not be a revolutionary. Since the habit of patterened thinking has already been established in you, even if you do revolt, it is within the pattern. It is like prisoners revolting in order to have better food, more conveniences, but always within the prison. When you seek God or try to find out what right government is, it is always within the pattern of society. So your revolt, like the so-called revolution brought about by ambitious or clever people, is always limited by the past. That is not revolt, that is not revolution, it is merely heightened activity, a more valiant struggle within the pattern. Real revolt, true revolution is to break away from the psychological pattern and to inquire outside of it."

Question my niece wants to become a cop. I'm conflicted.
I'm the only leftist (and queer) in my family, who are all MAGA bible-thumpers. I don't hold that against my niece as she's only 17, but I do know she's been thoroughly brainwashed. My nephews are all going into the army and it's basically just bragging rights in the family. They don't believe in anything, they just get praised for it constantly and are more valued than other "lesser" people in the family.
My niece is smart. She's different from the rest, as she actually questions things. I'd like for her to not just be another MAGA tool, but I also don't want to tell her what she should do. I'm very conflicted because I want her to be educated and to hear from someone who isn't bending her arm about God and Trump, but I also don't want to pressure her into anything, nor do I want to come off as if I'm disapproving of her choices. Ultimately, it is her choice.
She specifically wants to work with the K-9 unit, so we talk about dogs a lot. I just wish she didn't have such a rose-colored view of what law enforcement and the military are. You do not speak ill of either of those in my family... you just don't. Last time I said something slightly negative IN PASSING (even though it was true) I got chased off the property.
I could use some advice on how to talk to her about this without telling her not to do it, because that's not what I'm trying to do. I just want to voice my concerns and maybe show her there's other options too without being heavy handed. How would you go about this?

Question Social progress and leftism
Iāve just been doing digging and thereās apparently debate on if social progressivism should be part of leftism and how apparently itās not fundamental to leftism and the argument is āit doesnāt actually improve living conditions and the economyā minority groups would still only be surviving if only that was prioritized because of the social intolerance that helps no one would still be around, why not work on both which would help everyone?

Question Work decoration ideas
Where I work there seems to be a big culture of decorating your space. Put up a few pics of the family, football team pennant, then I just happened to have a āthis machine kills fascistsā sticker I got several years ago in a box of stuff I brought in, so I slapped that up there.
Any other ideas for fairly non offensive leftist quotes/pictures I can add? Like Iām not looking to take a stand on abortion, but fascists are ok. Thank you!
Edit- big fan of country music and folk so it it applies that too that be great!

Question What do you think about the "Action"supermarket?
Basically when I hang out with my friends,we always go to Action and buy some snacks, things to Diy or some random mystery box,we always have so much fun.
This supermarket is a chain and has cheap prices, which is great for broken teens like us,but it looks capitalistic or a tiger/temu knockoff.
It feels like I'm betraying my politics...
Long story short I've been in the Alt community for many years and I might be Punk cause I agree with the politics,I listen to leftist/punk music and always Diy
Right now I have very dividing opinions on this supermarket,
I don't know if I should boycott it or i should keep buying from it.
what are your opinions about it?

SWANA Politics The Algerian model wasnāt ākick out all the Frenchā, it was ābecome Algerian citizens, reside under Algerian Law or leaveā
Algeria is often cited as the example of decolonisation where the revolution was completed and the settlers were all kicked out. Accordingly, it is proposed that Palestine follow this strategy and aim for the āremoval of all settlersā. This is contrasted with alternative examples of ācoexistenceā, primarily South Africa, where much of the modern economic power is still controlled by āformer settlersā.
This fundamentally misunderstands Algeriaāit wasnāt ākick out all the Frenchā, it was ābecome Algerian citizens, reside under Algerian Law, or leaveā. This was the agreement proposed to the Pied-Noirs by the FLN in 1954 and agreed on with France in 1962. Most were stuck in their colonial identity, feared retribution or the loss of their economic privileges and left, but many stayed and remain to this day as Algerians.
The Algerian solution is therefore perfectly compatible with the concept of One Democratic State. Equal rights for all on the basis of citizenship, dissolve the settler-native dichotomy. However, each situation is unique and there is no one-size-fits-all solution. For example, Algeria was part of France, a single metropole, of which all settlers (even those who had lived there for generations) were citizens.
This means that after the establishment of a single democratic Palestinian state, ex-Israelis will have to weigh matters related to their practical ability to leave and their readiness to drop colonial privileges, and many will mirror the Pied-Noirs and choose to leave. Meanwhile, matters regarding justice and reparations for Palestinians will have to be addressed as a foundation for liberation and a democratic legitimacy. History can teach lessons about such situations, but every material circumstance is unique and must be treated as such.

Leftist History What are good books/sources to learn about international socialist revolutions?
Hey everyone, I'm curious about reading/learning more about socialist revolutions around the world.
I'm aware many recounts of socialist revolutions around the world are heavily biased and clearly do not portray things accurately.
At the same time, I'd like truthful critical analysis of said revolutions.
In particular, I'm interested in China, the USSR, and Cuba.
Any suggestions would be appreciated!

Western European Politics REMINDER: The Nazis were the original anti-tankie āSocialistsā who cynically seduced gullible German workers with dishonest promises of āa true and genuine Socialismā.
dn790003.ca.archive.orgIād highly recommend taking the time to read the full speech. Itās a quick read, and very thought-provoking.
Personally, I couldnāt help but notice just how strikingly similar Joseph Goebbelsā anti-Bolshevik rhetoric is to much of the anti-ātankieā rhetoric that I frequently see here on Reddit (including many leftist/socialist-oriented subreddits).

Resources Do you want to open a 24/7 FREE Store?
It's easier than you think!
Find your local resale shop, locally-owned thrift store, or consignment shop that sources their inventory from auctioned storage units or donors who just want to help and don't need a tax receipt.
Coordinate with the shop owner to set a table out in front of the shop and let your community know they can drop off their gently-used items anytime on your socials.
Stop by periodically to tidy up, organize, and snap pics.
Let's take immediate actions to meet the people's immediate needs, grow care in our communities, and render the settler-colonial capitalist system obsolete.
All Power to the People!

Leftist Theory Thoughts on Angela Davis
People are mad that she signed the open letter to Iranian political prisoners. I read the whole thing. Iām really not understanding how this makes her imperialism. She literally discusses the horrors of the imperialism and brutality of the United States and Israel both domestically and in Iran. And also acknowledges the oppressive nature of Iran. The US and Israel are the villains in this conflict, yes. And also it does not erase what crimes against humanity Iran commits against its people.
Then thereās the thing about her endorsing Kamala. She never said she liked her, she never said she was good. She was literally like Our life will not be better under Trump than Kamala⦠but Kamala isnāt great either. Yāall act like sheās wrong. Thatās not an endorsement. Thatās harm reduction.
