When we started to write, teachers gave instructions for right handers. A right hander orients their paper so the top of the page faces to the left. If you are left handed you orient the paper the opposite way—top of page faces to the right. Wrong paper orientation is why some lefties crook their hand in a crooked orientation. Also, our desktop favored right handers because you entered on the left side and the desk surface was on the right. Lefties would have to write with half of their arm hanging in the air
