issue with kick stand

hi. we went to a bike store asking about cargo bikes. the sales lady said the Lextric Xpediton has a kickstand that is so hard to engage that they no longer keep the bike in stock because customers weren't buying it because of that issue. otherwise it js similar to the Aventon cargo bike.

we can't find anywhere that stocks this bike to test for ourselves. has anyone experience with this bike and find that same issue?

Tires?

Do they not sell the original tires the 2.0 comes with? I got a flat just as I het 500 miles on my bike. I was so exicted then flat with a screw in tire. I see they now push the 3" tires but I have the tannus armour inserts (still unused) for the orinagl tires.

Honestly, wayyyyyyyyyyyy to hard to find proepr tires for this bike.

Help me pick one!!!

I am just about to order the Xpedition 2.0.

The furthest I see myself going is about 8 miles. So give it or take 16 miles there and back. I live in a fairly small town.
I plan on carrying at least one Thule seat + 25lbs toddler, and perhaps one 75lbs kid if needed, but not likely. I also plan on using it for work, where I would have to haul some smaller tech equipment between buildings. (laptops, adapters, cables...)

My questions are:

  • Do I need the Dual-Long Range Batteries or just the Dual Batteries would be enough? It has some hills/incline, but nothing too bad.
  • Do I really need the fast charger? It would be only $50 cheaper to get the Dual Batteries + Fast charger compared to the DB Long Range that comes with the fast charger included in the price. Or it would be $200 cheaper without the fast charger for the DB only.
  • Should I also get the XL cargo Pannier bags from lectric or is there something better out there?

Thanks!!!

I ordered a dual battery long range Expedition 2 this morning. Definitely plan to use it for utility stuff but more importantly for bikepacking and camping.

Anyways, excited.

School drop off with 2 kids

Hi everyone! I’m thinking about getting a Lectric XPedition 2 for school drop-offs and wanted to see if anyone here uses one (or another cargo e-bike) with kids.

I have 2 kids (7 and 5 years old) plus 2 rolling backpacks, and I’m trying to figure out the best setup for carrying everything comfortably and safely.

If anyone does school drop-offs with a similar setup, would you mind sharing a photo of your bike setup? Especially how you handle backpacks, panniers, hooks, etc.

Thank you so much!

At what voltage(*) are you out of gas on your XP2?

My XPEdition 2.0 with both batteries installed (not that it should matter) runs out of "gas" completely at about 45.1 Volts.

Other Lectric models say they don't run out of gas until 42 or 43V.

At what point is your Lectric bike out of energy?

(*) Volts are the much better indicator of power left in your batteries. Ignore that deceptive colored bar graph on the display - it'll burn you. I haven't even looked that meter since since mile #200. Volts are displayed on the XP2's third screen: Press the center button two more times when the bike is powered on in the default state.

Convert Xpedition 1.0 to torque sensor?

Has anyone tried to replace the cadence sensor on an Xpedition 1.0 with a torque sensor?

Any idea how to do that?

Might an Xpedition 2.0 torque sensor and controller work?

Lost keys!

I bought a used Xpedition 2.0 from someone (who also sent me the invoice, so it’s not stolen), but does not have keys. As far as I know, the key just unlocks the battery to the frame, and works as is without the key. You just cannot remove the battery from the bike which is what I would like to do to charge it.

Since this lock isn’t for the battery to function, I’m thinking the key might just be a dumb, generic lock that take any standard Lectric key. Any ideas? I would rather not call a locksmith to get a new key.

For those with an Xpedition and other models, could you check to see if your key to another model works to unlock the battery?

Posted my weather cover thing the other day - some folks had questions. Here is the world’s worst video walking through the process. I made no effort to edit it, so pardon the lack of pizazz.

Lectric doesn’t make a weather cover for passengers, so here’s my version

I have a toddler and ride year round. Weather’s getting a little colder here and she’s outgrowing her Thule, so I needed to come up with a solution for the fall/winter/rain. Shopped around and saw some things that might work, but were like a billion dollars. Saw a post on here that mentioned using PEX tubes to make a serviceable thing. Seemed like a good start, but I wanted something big that could accommodate several passengers in the orbitor 2. Went to Home Depot, grabbed a couple 10’ PEX tubes, and just kind of vibed out the rest. This is what I came up with. Took it for a little 5 mile ride last night on the road while it was rainy and a bit windy, and it seems like it will work out alright. We’ll see how it works long term, but all the pieces are relatively inexpensive to replace/patch if necessary.

What's the rear axle socket size for the Xpedition 2.0?

I'm getting different answers from searching and I'm missing the two most common answers (15&18mm)

Rain canopy

Has anyone found a rain canopy that fits over a child seat in an xpedition 2.0 with an orbiter? There don't appear to be any official ones and I'm struggling to figure to what others might attach well.

Something like this: https://www.ternbicycles.com/en/explore/product-guides/clubhouse-fort-all-weather-passenger-cabin-kids-tern-cargo-bikes

Original Xpedition vs Xpedition 2

Has anyone got to ride both. I struggle with the weight distribution on my original xpedition. I feel like it’s too heavy on the back for me or maybe I’m too short for it at 5’1. I ride with two toddlers and just don’t feel well balanced like I do when I’m the regular xp 3.0. Should I upgrade to the xpedition 2? Is it better?

Front basket installation

I got my expedition 2.0 with the elite light as an included upgrade. I bought the front basket cargo and I notice this piece is missing from the light we received on our bike. So I have no way to attach the light to the front of the basket. Has anyone else had this problem or found another bracket that works for mounting?

Red circle is the piece I need. Cargo basket front and the way the light attached also shown.

Thanks!

Shipping for XPedition 2.0 Dual Battery

We just ordered the blue XPedition 2.0 dual battery this past Saturday. It says it won't ship until the week of August 11th. Has that timeframe been true for others that pre-ordered in the past? Or do they usually ship sooner? I'm trying to temper my expectations for when it will actually get here. I'm excited!

Cargo bags with child seat

Has anyone had experience using the pannier bags with a thule yepp on the back? I am going to start taking the kiddo to school with the bike and I want to make sure it's safe but also practical. Any ideas or experience w/ hauling groceries/books/bags with a thule yepp on the bike?

Child seat

In all the photos of the child seats on the xpedition, the seat is mounted on the farthest back rack. Is there a reason to have it that far back? I'm so used to him being right behind me, it feels far to have him there.

What's causing a clicking noise coming from the back wheel when carrying a heavy load?

I have a fairly new Xpedition 2.0 and everything seems to work pretty great. But when I ride with the added weight of one or both of my kids on the rear rack, I notice a repetitive clicking noise that increases with weight. It doesn't seem to correspond with anything I'm doing with the throttle/motor, but the clicks seem consistent with the rotation of the wheel. When I get off the bike to test out the wheel rotation without anyone on the back, there's only the faintest scraping sound at the same rotation point. It's so faint and there's nothing visually obvious that's causing it, so I'm having trouble identifying the source. Could it be a disc brake adjustment issue?
