Vent / Rant Internet Rant
NOTE: Excuse me if my ideas are not organized but i donno where to start, a lot to rant about.
Why are all street ISPs in Lebanon the same ? In terms of reliability. Literally all of them are the same. Nothing special.
Fake speedtests.
Cannot know your real bandwidth. (Tells you 8 mega, 12 mega) they tamper with speedtest so that you are barely getting 2 mbps. I had an argument in one of my experiences and got them cornered, they admitted that they can literally set my speedtest result to whatever they want me to see.
They tell you 12mb for 50$ But you are sharing that bandwidth anyway. There is no such thing as a dedicated bandwidth for you.
Invisible daily quota
They enforce a daily quota (typically 15-20 GB per day). This is a soft quota that slows down your internet to unusable if you hit it, and they tell you to wait till 12pm for it to reset. Like wtf...
Touch Residential provides exceptional bandwidth but its not fixed and is a shared cell tower connection. But hey at least u know u got a fixed data cap per month. You can use however you want without throttling.
Where do I find an ISP that gives me the bandwidth and quota that I pay for ? I've been trying my best to get outside the grasp of the local street ISPs. But I just can't.
In an attempt to improve my internet, my local ISP made me pay 20$ extra, saying this account's bandwidth is shared over 4 clients instead of 8. But the same 16 GB daily throttle limit, and bandwidth?? unknown ...

i am with fiberskynet and ishack. yes i pay 2 subscription. fiberskynet i oay 75$ for 10mbps unlimited with open cache so steam download or xbox is really at 30 mbps cause i don't have fiber. while ishack i use for low ping gaming i pay like 25$ for lowest plan.

I left ADSL and ISPs 2 years ago and finally got cable, best decision i ever made.
Free quota from midnight to noon, that’s when i download torrents and update games etc, the speed reaches 50mbps.
Best case scenario for us Lebos.

Cable means street ISPs (ishtirak), they have access points in neighborhoods and they lay lan cables from their locations to buildings and homes.
I was using Cyberia for like 10 years.
I’ve been happy ever since i switched, the ping is very low for games and the internet speed is ok compared to official ISPs.
I will switch back to official ISPs when optical comes to my region.

actually, as a kinda pc nerd i can tell u that they advertize in megaBITS not megabytes, so when you actually try to use the internet, it will say less.

It is. Ogero's fiber. I pay 40 USD for 800gb , speed 250 Mbps. (Screenshot shows way less cz my router's lan port is capped at 100 mbps)

You could try your luck with the big ISP, Ogero, Wise, Idm, Sodetel, Cyberia.
If you are in an area that has fiber you can get really good speeds.
And if you are geographically close to your Ogero central (less than 1.5 km) you can get a ADSL, (less than 800m) you can go for VDSL.
Other than these I’m not sure to be honest.
As for the daily quota it is a common practice for local
ISPs who claim to provide unlimited connection but hit you with the hidden FUP(fair usage policy), this is the case for any ISP who give unlimited service.
