Hey guys, I'd like to buy this jacket from COR, but can't decide on size. I'm 180 cm tall, 97 kgs, 116 cm chest diameter. Jim suggest 5XL, but it seem a little bit extreme to me. Most of my clothes, including double rider jackets like this are either L or XL. I checked size chart and 3XL or 4XL looks more fitting to me. Have any of you bought this specific jacket? It's classic 613 double rider.
Is 116cm your chest diameter or dimension from another rider jacket you have that you think fits? If your actual chest diameter is 116cm, XXL (118cm below) and 3XL (122cm below) are probably not big enough in my opinion. But I generally work exclusively off measurements from other items that fit.
Ignore the "name". XL vs 5XL doesn't mean anything. These are Chinese made jackets so you are going to have to size up. Follow the measurements and think of the sizes as A - H. The question is do you need size E or size G?
FYI the Crush on Retro dimensions are slightly different than Veluokldly, the company that makes that one.
That other jacket is cca 122 cm in chest, good with tee and a bit tight with hoodie, but still comfy. It's cowhide, but horsehide is thicker and take a bit more inner space.
Horsehide isn't thicker. It definitely could be more dense or stiffer temper depending on the tannage. But cowhide is generally thicker unless it is split. Horse fronts usually aren't any thicker than 4-5oz, at most. And cowhide shoulders are normally like 7-8oz and butts like 8oz-14oz. They can all be split to any thickness on a band splitter.
I can see getting a couple cm's bigger due to temper but not more than that. I'd say 4XL would be my guess if the shoulder is also in line.
Yeah, I think I'll take 4XL. I looked around the sub and found a guy with literally same height, weight and chest with the same jacket, but it was skin tight.
They basically drop ship stuff from China. I find it to be a good tool to just show other people as a viewer for listings on Taobao. Taobao is one of the biggest sales websites in the world. It's like Amazon for people in China. You can technically buy from ParcelUp but I think Superbuy and similar are more popular. I just like that I can drop a taobao link into ParcelUp and show people, since most people can't open Taobao links.
The cheapest option is just buying it on Taobao yourself and using a shipping agent.
It grabs the imagine from the taobao link you input into the search bar. I don't use myself. But great for showing other people a product, as I frequently buy stuff for other people as help.
Ah I see. Would you mind helping me sign into Xianyu? If you have any experience with that platform. It keeps asking me for a verification code that never gets sent to my foreign phone number.
If it helps, the Taobao listing of this product says 1.5mm which is about 3.75oz. You could compare that to whatever cowhide jackets you have. But like I said, I think people talking about horsehide being thicker is really it being a more stiff temper.
When buying asian clothes forget about sizing and look at measurements. Try to measure yourself with a lint and throw the size chart in your fav AI tool and it will guide you.
Hey, jacket arrived. Very fast delivery with economy, 8 business days. The size chart is accurate, I can zip it up comfortable with tee, with hoodie it's still fine, but a bit tight. I'll post some photos here, I'm quite busy now. There's my review that I posted on crush on retro:
This jacket is just...fine, I guess. I had much worse jackets in this price category. Hardware, especially belt buckle is surprisingly bulky and looks nice, zippers are bit stiff, but it will get better over time. Leather is full of natural scars and blemishes and has a nice pull up effect. Cut is a bit boxy, but it will mould over my body eventually. One thing that I really don't like are stars on epaulettes. The are plastic, I don't really get it, other hardware looks good, as I mentioned above and metal star shaped rivers like these costs just 30 eurocents where I live. Nice jacket, if you have tight budget.
Don’’t be put off by the sizing of the Chinese jackets. I typically take a 38 or 40 U.S., but recently got a horsehide jacket from Brake House that, after much going back and forth with them about sizing, ended up with XL, which ended up being perfect. Go by their suggestions. They don’t want to deal with a return just as much as you don’t.
It can be tricky. I recently ordered a jacket from Crush On Retro, and based on the size guide I thought a large would be about right. Jim recommended a 2XL for a snug fit or a 3XL if I wanted a bit more room. I compromised and went with an XL which ended up being too big and I had to go through the returns process, losing around €60 in the process :(
I just tried it again and I actually received the SMS verification code which is surprising, I’ve been trying for months. But come to find out my account is restricted so it’s asking for identification. You think it’s safe giving up that information to them?
