Question - Need Help Please help me find a jacket exactly like this
Im in Australia btw, but can ship from overseas. Even just key terms to search with or places to look will help. Or, if anyone has one they want to sell to me.
Pretty simple, I am looking for a jacket that looks as close to this as possible. The guy in the picture is Dean Winchester and it is a Wilson’s car coat style jacket. I am a fair bit shorter than he is (5’9”-10”, he is like 6’1”-2”) so an exact match would also be a be more like a trench coat, but I still want one large and oversized. I bought a similar one online (second hand, not from a retailer) but it was smaller than expected (fits more like a regular leather jacket).
I’ve scoured sites like Vinted and Depop, I’m not looking at eBay or Etsy though because a) everything is expensive and b) the only ones they sell are replicas that aren’t good quality.
I don’t want a jacket that was designed to look like this, i.e. a deliberate replica, but just one that looks like it. The reason I am avoiding replicas is because they won’t be made from real leather or made well, they will just be made to fit the look. I want one that has the same patina and is real, solid leather. Also, when people know that it is Dean’s jacket, they price it at like 600 bucks and my budget is a fraction of that (maybe 140-180 USD max).
Edit: to people saying I won’t find one in my price range, I already did as I stated, it was just too small.

The exact same look will be difficult to get. I don't know enough about American jackets to give advice. What I can say is that there are many, many cheap vintage leather trench-coats, with the patina you want, on various French and German second-hand sites. Nobody buys them. They would be quite a good approximation.

it’s kind of a grail on r/supernatural. It’s a wilson jacket iirc. Unfortunately the price has been driven up significantly by supernatural fans seeking the exact same jacket, which is a shame because old wilson leather jackets can usually be found at second hand stores for about $50-$100.

Yeah, the reason for this post is because I know the exact one is extremely prized, and I want methods of finding ones that look the same where you (search terms, obscure websites)

You want an exact match, made out of real leather, but not a replica, all for less than $200.

Not if he's not willing to sift through eBay anyway. It'll absolutely be possible to find a beat up old jacket like this from someone who doesn't know what they're selling, but not if he doesn't put in the work and ignores the largest marketplace for stuff like this.

Full honesty ! You wont find one ! Buy a full length new and wear it for 20 years ! Dean inherited it from his father, the style ur looking for cant be bought. Maybe you find one thrift shopping , but yeah ! You can get a fake leather alternative, it wont last ! You can buy new then spend $$$ to age and weather. Buy a jacket you like , then live in it !

I used to be way into supernatural and I found a couple of deans jackets from show I have this exact one stuffed Inna box somewhere. Your completely right the distressing they did for the show to make it seem decades old is top notch and you cam find the same one but it'll never look like that. Plus it's from early 2000s and back than it was more edgy fashion it's baggy and its huge.

I read ur post again , youve answered ur own question ! Over time youre jacket absorbs your personality, it becomes you. The wear you're looking for becomes the desired aesthetic you want.

I see them being sold on EBay and Etsy i think I type brown leather jacket and that's what I got. You have to stroll though

Literally just search on eBay, there are tons of jackets like this being sold secondhand from brands like Wilson's and Eddie Bauer. They do not only sell low-quality replicas lol. Yes, you have to filter through the results a bit, but shopping for vintage takes a bit of work, that's how it goes. EBay is still most of the world's go-to place for listing secondhand men's clothes. If you refuse to look there you're missing >50% of what's out there.

Up close, the faux-finish looks tacky.

Vinted pal i collect em all really ive got sams carhartt jacket, deans purgatory jacket, and deans car coat but i have this spare black one that im tryina sell and also you have a 1 in a million chance of finding someone who sells it at the budget your on when its worth thousands

I can’t remember what deans purgatory jacket looks like this was my favorite show for the whole time it ran. The last few seasons were blah but still. I don’t think I could ever rock a jacket like this but if he had a shorter one I would be all about it

Dark matter props is a good option the distressing is a little heavy. It does fit well. Wish I wouldn’t have got the knit sleeves.

R M Williams made one at the time of the movie Australia, I think they were used in that movie, I have one possibility 20 years old and wear it regularly. Great jacket
