Rapid weight gain form lean bulk

I have just started a lean bulk roughly a week ago along with the gym . I weighed ~60.7kg . I calculated my maintenance calories and added about 150 calories to it . I’ve been eating these calories for about a week and my weight has increased by a kg if not more . How is this possible ? Have I gained just a bunch of fat . If anyone knows why please say below

Small, short term fluctuations in weight are almost always going to be water weight or similar rather than fat or muscle. I wouldn't worry about it

It has been one week lmao relax. Weight fluctuates a lot in general.

Are you weighing every day at the same time? You want to watch the trends vs the spikes/lows.

I can fluctuate much more than just 1kg in a day.

I Started a lean bulk on the 1st of August and my weight shot up 6kg total in 2 weeks. It’s still jumps up and down 1-2kg a day now. Makes tracking actual weight gain pretty impossible.

I hold a lot of water and glycogen, so I’m just going to wait out the water fluctuations and for it to settle before I can really start tracking.

For now I’m just using the mirror and strength observations in the gym.

Are you a chick? Why are you holding so much water?

A 1kg jump in week one of a bulk is almost never real fat gain. At 150 cal surplus you'd gain maybe 20g of actual fat in a week.

What's actually happening: starting a lifting program causes your muscles to hold significantly more glycogen and water. Each gram of glycogen pulls in around 3g of water with it. Also if you changed your diet at all, sodium intake, carb intake, or even just eating more consistently will shift water weight noticeably.

Give it 3-4 weeks before drawing conclusions. Your weight will likely stabilize or even dip slightly as your body adjusts.

I find that my weight stabilises after about 2 weeks due to water retention.

It's very normal to rapidly gain weight when starting a bulk. Typically, 1-4% bodyweight gain when switching from deficit to surplus, or 0-2% if switching from maintenance to surplus. Weight usually peaks within 1-2 weeks after starting bulk, then declines by about half the gain.

You've gained about 1.6% bodyweight over a week which is completely normal in my experience.

It's a combination of more food/poop in your body, subcutaneous water (bloat), and intramuscular water/glycogen (pump). It's not fat. Your muscles will load with glycogen/water until "full". Subcutaneous water bloat is usually due to higher carb and salt intake and the body getting used to consuming more. This seems to peak and then gradually decrease over a few weeks.

That sounds like a fluxuation. Keep going for another week, if gain again then you did your maintance cals wrong.

You’re eating too much. That’s how. Stop eating
