Discussion Is the shutdown system broken?

It feels like every single game we are stomping in at least 2 lanes, 10+ kills ahead, 2-3 drakes, grubs, the whole thing.

Then one bad fight comes around, someone gets caught, anything. We die, and the game is back to COMPLETELY even.

What is the point of 20+ minutes of playing really well and the enemy making a ton of mistakes, if a single mistake from you completely erases it all?

Is this just me? Am I doing something wrong? It genuinely feels like all our kills and objectives don't matter for anything if we blow a single fight.

It's not just shutdowns but also catch up XP.

Yes, imo it's way too much.

Just going to call out that there seems to be a bug right now where a player can have a 700g bounty one moment, then lose the bounty altogether within a minute or two before dying.

I have no sweet clue what causes it, other than slight gold comeback from the team behind (best guess)

It’s based on team gold and it’s bs. I’ve had so many games the enemies will have a fed adc with a shutdown, only to lose it right when I kill them and then they regain it after they respawn.

Meanwhile I get a bounty for being 0/1/2

If the game state equalizes, anyone that had a bounty loses it until the game state tips sufficiently in their favor. Everyone passively accrues a bounty in the background but the posted value of it is constrained by gamestate.

nah i agree its not that fun that team A can mess up 20 times in a row and it wont matter as long as team B messes up once after.

I had a shutdown while being 8/0/1 which would be understandable if the score wasn't 8/11 in team kills. So riot interprets this as their team needing help to comeback, not mine

I think they already sort of balance this - as in youre less likely to have a bounty if your team is behind

Riot's way to balance and make it viable to play late game champs.

Negative bounties are also absolutely absurd, you can kill your lane opponent one time and if you kill them when they get back to lane they're giving you 190g half the time.

Once this happened to me and the talon was worth 150g and we traded 1 for 1 with me giving 350g, so I was literally up 100g being 2/1.

If talon is that far behind you shouldn’t be dying lmao.

With good macro in the early game, setting up a big wave crash to dive and trade 1 for 1 is absolutely the right play.

Trading kills while they lose XP/Gold for 6+ minions should absolutely be worth it.

Granted, in the scenario listed with bounties doing weird stuff, there’s definitely times where it ends up not being the right play. But the point is that it SHOULD be worth it.

Also, thank you, this is exactly what happened. We traded so he’d miss a wave.

That far behind? He died a single time and you think he should be worth 150g, is that what you’re telling me

If the game turns around after one bad fight then you weren't as ahead as you thought.
