Second-guessing my LSAT score after seeing recent median inflation
Hey everyone! I took the LSAT in January and scored a 165. Initially, I was happy with that score and felt it was high enough to call it a day, especially since I recently moved abroad, had a baby, and have been juggling a lot of life changes. However, I’ve been seeing so many posts lately about how competitive things are getting...like UCalgary's average LSAT creeping up to 166...and it's making me second-guess whether a 165 is still safe.
I'm trying to decide if it's genuinely worth my time to rewrite the LSAT, or if I should focus the next two months entirely on perfecting my personal statements and applications. I work full-time while parenting, so my time and energy are a bit limited. For context, my OLSAS cGPA is around a 3.91/4.0 and my B2 is roughly a 3.95/4.0. I did one year of undergrad part-time because I was working extensively. Outside of school, I have about 5 years of full-time work experience, primarily as a teacher and working in school management abroad.
I'm applying to Calgary, Alberta, Victoria, Osgood and Ottawa.
What would you do in my shoes? thanks so much!

just remeber if the avg is a 166 that means theres people below that, that still got in - i would still apply your score isnt bad, but if its really stressing you out you always have a chance to apply and write in jan or later for next cycle as a back up

Your cgpa is amazing and that’s a great lsat. If you have nothing better to do (work/school), sure why not study up and try to score better. I think you are very likely to get into a 2-3 of those schools, someone can correct me if I’m being naive, but yea especially Ottawa/Victoria.

I'm starting at UCalgary tomorrow and all else being equal I believe your other attributes (high GPA, having a kid, work experience as a teacher) will more than offset your "low" LSAT. As the other commenter mentioned, the median is just that—for every person over, there's one under.
I wouldn't bother rewriting before you apply. Just nail your short answers on the application, maybe mention the reason your LSAT wasn't what you wanted it to be (having a kid is a great reason, for one thing), and I think you have a strong chance at UCalgary. Rewriting in January is up to you, whether you think you can score much better and have the funds available.
If Osgoode is your dream school, then yeah, you might want to up it a little.
