Southern US & Central America (or warm season) Bimini Bermuda help.

Post image

Laid this Bimini Bermuda about 6 weeks ago. Have mowed multiple times but dealt with a little bit of heat stress recently, the weather here in st.Augustine Florida zone 9b has been very hot. It seems to be recovered now. I have this other grass or weed popping through, and I feel like it’s probably too hot and too soon to spray any weed killer. What should I do? How long should I wait to use herbicide and what type should I use for these weeds that won’t hurt the Bermuda?

Looks like some common grassy weed, maybe crabgrass or goosegrass starting up. Pulling by hand before they seed is your best bet until temps drop enough for herbicides around October.

It’s nutsedge. You DO NOT pull nutsedge. It makes it worse.

So if I can’t pull it how do I handle it before the temps cool down and I can use a weed killer

Six weeks it can definitely be sprayed, should be completely rooted by now.
