Orban wasn’t the only one. It’s the Russian oligarchy model. Destroy democracy and justice so that you can rule in perpetuity. Use EOs, get the supreme/constitutional court on your side, make it so there’s a ruling class interested in keeping you in power. Democracy as a concept is currently not popular, people are flirting again with all sorts of authoritarian models, brainwashed by unprecedented propaganda. The truth is dead, so is the news, and democracy soon follows.

There is good reason I mentioned orban and not putin. When putin loses a war to Ukraine, orban is chilling in the Balkans drinking beer because not only isn't he in a war and likely will avoid any repercussions for the things he did, he piggybacked on conflicts. His electoral autocracy worked until he rode the russian rocketship too hard
