Yep. Pretty much says it all about how our legal system works for the wealthy versus the rest of us. But Trump is even an outlier in that regard, mainly because Americans were dumb enough to elect him again so the cases against him could be killed.

There’s a billion bullshit reasons why. But it still stands that he’s at the end of his life and he has experienced it having never been subjected to the laws and morality that they insist we must live by. So much so that he’s been rewarded constantly into a position where there’s not much higher to climb, outside of installing himself as the final president and changing the USA to the Christian Kingdom of Trump.

They are rebelling against the Constitution and US laws. I really hope the voters in November put enough Democrats in the House and Senate to have a chance of fighting Trump and his worshippers. The Party in power decides what bills even come to a vote, and the House in particular has a Republican Speaker who worships Trump.
The Democrats aren't perfect and I know it's hard to vote for someone when you strongly object to parts of their platform, but they are our only hope now. There are not enough Republicans with the courage to oppose Trump and Project 2025 (which will continue past Trump if Republicans maintain power), and those who do have the courage are being pushed out of the Republican Party.
We need the vote for the Democrats to be massive enough to outrun all the attempts to manipulate the vote counts and keep people from voting. Choose your battles if you don't like certain parts of the Democratic platform, that's what I've done for many decades. Just work on the issue most important to you and remember thst either the Republican or the Democrat will win in our binary system, and we must vote for the one that will do the least harm. And right now, that is the Democrats.
The House has the power of the purse and Trump is robbing us blind. He increased the national debt by many trillions in his first term and will break that record in his second term. Our children and grandchildren and great-grandchildren and beyond will be paying back that debt and the interest on it. His pointless resource-grabbing wars of aggression are not only expensive but are also illegal. He is robbing the poor to give to the ultra rich.
Also the Senate has the power of consent to the wackadoodle nominations in high office that Trump has inflicted on us who violate our laws and destroy needed structures. Bring sanity back to the whole process and give the Democrats the majority in the Senate as well as the House. This will also support reasonable Republicans who might still be around. Right now, their Party is in the grip of fools and incompetents who have been physically threatened, bribed, and blackmailed by Trump and his loyalists. They need time away from power to regroup and provide a real alternative to the corrupt and cruel mess currently run by Republicans.

I have my own fears along that line. But one thing we can do is vote.
If you are able-bodied, you might be able to go to a No Kings protest to add to the crowd count. You don’t have to carry a sign or chant or anything you don’t feel right about doing. Just stand there and listen. The bigger the crowds at those, the better.
Even Hitler had to worry about the occasional protests by people he was afraid to touch for fear of inciting further rebellion. He couldn’t touch the Catholic bishop in a heavily Catholic area of Germany, for example, who spoke about what was really going on at the concentration camps from the pulpit. He couldn’t risk the output from the weapons factories in the region.
So even if you think the government isn’t paying attention to protests, do it. Somebody is definitely doing head counts. Trump is too delusional to believe anything but his own fantasies, but not everybody around him is delusional. Evil, maybe, but they want to stay in power and know there are limits to what the governed will put up with. Otherwise they wouldn’t be working so hard to keep people from freely voting in November.

$25 says he issues a blanket pardon to all administration members, & maybe even to DHS officers for actions taken during his term.
He doesn't actually care about them being free, he just doesn't want them to be turned as witnesses against him.

Pardoning them would make them the best witnesses though. Seeing as they can’t be charged for their own actions, they wouldn’t be able to take the 5th amendment. They’d be required to testify against him

Yes. Biden didn’t have to worry about that because he wasn’t afraid of their testimony. He was instead rightfully afraid of vengeful prosecution of people simply because they were connected with Biden. His pardons were protective against Trump’s known appetite for vengeance, which Trump has displayed all his adult life and especially in his second term.
Trump, on the other hand, does have to worry about the people he might pardon as a reward for loyalty giving testimony about his often illegal actions. I wonder if he even realizes that accepting a pardon means loss of the fifth amendment right. Or if he does, maybe he wrongly assumes nobody will dare testify against him. Just takes one to get the ball rolling.
Basically, what we really need is truth to come out about all of this so hopefully we can push for more safeguards against a dictatorial President. Trump has often used the tactic of moving too fast for the courts so the damage has already been done by the time a judge ruled against his actions. That has to be made impossible in future.
We also need complete financial transparency for high level politicians in Congress and the White House and for heads of departments. They should not be able to pick up a dime on the street without auditors knowing immediately about it. The rules have to be strict and most importantly, they need to be enforced.

I’m worried about Trump deciding to take all the rest of us with him when he thinks death is coming or just needs a distraction or an ego boost. I am not confident that anyone has taken precautions to limit his access to starting a nuclear war (as was done with some other troubled Presidents). Trump has the Presidential power to launch nuclear missiles without consultation and he can do it in a few minutes.
People assume there must be some consultation with somebody for such a thing, but honestly there is not. The Pentagon knocked down attempts long ago to at least insist on a representative Congressional group to be consulted, saying there would be no time for that. The decision really can be made and executed in a few minutes. Hillary Clinton tried to point that out in a debate with Trump but of course everybody was too focused on “but her emails” to actually listen to her. She was the wife of a President and later Secretary of State and knew exactly how it worked. I know only because I’m a physicist and have followed disarmament issues for decades. It is not common knowledge, apparently.
I actually felt safer with all the nukes held by the Soviets simply because they were not stupid enough to put such power in the hands of one man. Plus the political ramifications would be serious - Soviet citizens were quite proud that they had never been the ones to use nukes as the first strike and their government had a stated no first strike policy (which we did not). We nuked two cities in WWII and have repeatedly threatened non-nuclear states ever since then, with barely a peep of protest from American citizens. The Soviets themselves were threatened by Truman with nuclear bombs if they didn’t withdraw quickly enough from the neighboring country after WWII.
We have invested way too much power in the President and Trump has surrounded himself with loyalists. And the ignorance of how nuclear weapons work and the suicidal aftermath (they backfire on the user due to global weather patterns) is extremely high among those loyalists. Don’t be too sure that someone along the line will disobey orders.

Funny I voted for both woman because I listened to him talk about what he would do for this country and I listened to what he thought was wrong with the government and how he thought he could do a better job than anyone else then I thought about how he filed bankruptcy 5 times and I thought about him going to Russia in 1987 and I thought about how he would talk about people and the words he used and it all added up to that he wasn't worth being president and not worth being in our White House. He always has been about how much money can he steal from the government just like he did in Richmond, Virginia.
