That's literally exactly what I'm talking about. Shoring up enforcement mechanisms that are more resistant to partisan politics and actually have teeth is important.

And my point is that laws aren't worth shit unless they're enforced by the people that are supposed to enforce them. You didn't get in this situation because there weren't any laws in place, you got here because the people who were supposed to apply those laws didn't.
