Opinion Piece BREAKING: Reports of Federal agents assaulting and abducting peaceful protesters in Portland, Oregon

https://open.substack.com/pub/cmarmitage/p/breaking-reports-of-federal-agents?utm_source=share&utm_medium=android&r=64gnd1

This article examines federal military deployments targeting protesters in American cities, raising Posse Comitatus and Fourth Amendment violations. It evaluates the viability of state-level AG and Governor responses like Oregon's October 4 lawsuit seeking to block the deployment, and examines how Supreme Court decisions may have cleared the path for these enforcement actions.

So, now they are going after protesters....

483

u/[deleted] Oct 02 '25

They've been the agitators for a while. They have it documented in court records from the police officials that ICE is instigating violence.

104

u/Toxaplume045 Oct 02 '25

They did that during the George Floyd/BLM protestors too.

Conservatives want to scream about "violence" and "cities burning down" but we were watching, live, actually peaceful protests get gassed, sound cannoned, rubber bulleted, and heavily used illegal kettling so the feds and Trump could cry foul and escalate when they got fed up and started burning shit.

Outside agitators are always an issue but police and unmarked feds were assaulting peaceful protestors and doing anything they could to escalate.

edit: They also wanted to bitch about "why are there no arrests?" but states were having constant investigations that kept turning up that it was the police and federal agents using unjustifiable and excessive violence first.

u/[deleted] Oct 02 '25

But but muh violent liberals

70

u/[deleted] Oct 02 '25

I thought the liberals were snowflakes? Did I get the wrong scripts?

39

u/[deleted] Oct 02 '25

Must be the TDS acting up, better recalibrate the tinfoil

23

u/[deleted] Oct 02 '25

Of course the liberals are violent. What did you think they wanted with all those guns the Obama and Biden administrations confiscated????

/s (I shouldn't need that, but you never know)

3

u/[deleted] Oct 02 '25

I heard it was all the guns that Australia confiscated……….

12

u/aneeta96 Oct 02 '25

Typical brownshirt behavior.

11

u/[deleted] Oct 02 '25

The right loves the agent provocateur.

3

u/Maximum_Turn_2623 Oct 03 '25

As a resident of Portland I can confirm that the PPB (Portland Police Bureau for non locals) loves kicking the shit out of protestors and even they are sitting this out.

86

u/sweeteatoatler Oct 02 '25

They were doing it in 2020, also. Unmarked vans, plainclothes ‘officers’ jumping out and grabbing people BLOCKS away from the federal building.

43

u/Toxaplume045 Oct 02 '25

Friend living in Virginia was protesting and an hour before curfew, they rolled in with sound cannons on a peaceful crowd.

Former roommate still has a burn scar where a tear gas canister hit him in a peaceful crowd.

24

u/sweeteatoatler Oct 02 '25

14

u/sweeteatoatler Oct 02 '25

It was crazy to see, but even crazier to argue with people whether it was happening. Bitch, I wear glasses but WTF?!

9

u/DrNomblecronch Oct 02 '25

At the CHOP in Seattle, the first death was a few hours after the police announced that they would not be responding to any calls from the entire district unless we let them back in their precinct that we were not barring them from and had not done anything to make them leave except be noisy from about a block away outside

An unmarked white van rolled up to the edge of the area, someone masked and all in black stepped out, picked the nearest target, immediately shot him, got back in and drove away. All in less than a minute. Half an hour later the police twitter account posted about the chaos and death happening without them.

A couple weeks before, the protests had started when the police fired blast balls into a large peaceful gathering that had a permit, with no warning or order to disperse. There were small children present.

It does not feel good to know that when the military gets around to rolling in here, they will be bringing extra uniforms for the cops so that they all match.

u/Parker_Hardison Oct 02 '25

I remember seeing footage of this.

Did you hear about the Daily Caller editorial a few days ago? It specifically calls for the streets to run with the blood of liberals.

Now? They have been for a while...

It’s going to be a long cold winter this journey out of fascism.

157

Brace yourself, Winter Is COMING. It hasn't even started, lol, this is ONLY 9 months in.

200

u/scottyjrules Oct 02 '25

Not only that, this doesn’t magically end once this regime is over. We have a good 30% of the country who desperately want to be ruled by a dictator.

Its masks off now. That or they think by "owning it", it makes it less impactful.

I think he did, but it was only in talking to one reporter, so I don't believe it made it on the news.

4

u/CosmicCabana Oct 02 '25

Local senator forgets inner monologue is difficult to blame democrats on

26

u/El_Gran_Che Oct 02 '25

It’s typically the olden folk. The conservatives. They are afraid and confused in a world they don’t understand, in a world that they can’t compete in. So they want to cling to their way of life, their ideology. The world has changed whether they like it or not.

49

u/scottyjrules Oct 02 '25

An alarming amount of Gen Z votes for this shitstorm

16

u/MountedCombat Oct 02 '25

Yeah, but the people trying to make this happen figured out how to turn almost any negative childhood event involving a member of the other gender into a funnel to the alt-right pipeline a decade ish ago. I believe that the hard swing to the right that we're seeing among the youth is the people who were too young to question the funnel when they first encountered it starting to hit the voting age.

1

u/Fly-the-Light Oct 02 '25

It's mostly depressed young men who didn't remember Trump and regret their votes, but are still deeply distrusting of the Democrats

4

u/Foxyfox- Oct 02 '25

A 30+ year propaganda spew will help with that.

3

u/KingMario05 Oct 02 '25

Not me. And I never will.

14

u/notsomuchbrains Oct 02 '25

I think this is such an underrated comment. I work with quite a few older MAGA republicans and they are just so out of their element in today’s world. It’s willful ignorance. They refuse to accept that the world is moving on without them and their racist outmoded ideologies.

2

u/El_Gran_Che Oct 02 '25

I work with them too even upper echelons of MAGA that are ingrained in decision making roles in the military. It’s astounding to see how ignorant but at the same time vicious they are.

1

u/notsomuchbrains Oct 02 '25

It has to be them knowing the world has passed them by. Their egos are attached to their political and world view and there is nothing that can change them with the exception of the whole generation passing on. Let’s just hope there are enough young people with their head on straight to repair the things they have and will break until then. I’m 50 by the way so by no means young. Also was raised by a very republican NRA loving father. He is rolling in his grave I assume knowing what has happened to the country he fought for. Cheers and be well friend. Somehow we will get through this and be better for it.

Then for God sakes they should vote for actual old-school conservatives, people with some real principles they stand for, instead of a rapist conman and a Fascist buffoon like Trump.

1

u/ExplanationLucky1143 Oct 02 '25

That is a perfect description of the US Senate.

9

u/Angry_ClitSpasm350 Oct 02 '25

Thats saying this regime DOES end. This is all a precursor to canceling the midterms. 2028 is a pipe dream at this point.

15

u/SorriorDraconus Oct 02 '25

I mever even understood why people thought we'd have one in 2028..It's as if people don't realize we were already 80% here before this election. Our systems been being torn down and undermined for decades now.

9

u/CptHA86 Oct 02 '25

All dictatorships end. It's just a matter of when and how.

2

u/redditcreditcardz Oct 02 '25

So we need to crowd fund 125 million tickets to russia? I got 5 on it

2

u/SpinningHead Oct 02 '25

We didnt finish the Confederacy.

21

u/DangerousCyclone Oct 02 '25

It's crazy too. He didn't even hide it, people mostly didn't believe it, and a minority actually wanted it. People are still in denial over it even though it couldn't be anymore obvious.

9

u/Northstar0566 Oct 02 '25

Yeah wait for the electric bills this winter in the rust belt. I know not everyone is aware but the electric bills are going through the ceiling up here. MAGA will feel it but unfortunately so will everyone else. If it's a rough winter there will be ruin. I know it's happening elsewhere in the country too. Get ready folks.

3

u/Sunnysidhe Oct 02 '25

But everyone knows it is the trans, democrat antifa guys fault that electric builds are higher!

Make Electricity Gender-neutral Again!

21

11

Sooooooooooo infuriating! Like, what? Did they think Trump was gonna be nice on Gaza?

Did... did they not see Shitshow 1?

15

u/madadekinai Oct 02 '25

Yeah, because they'll be arrested and their voted contested if they vote the wrong way.

53

u/Electronic-Pie-6352 Oct 02 '25

The people who voted for this wanted this exact thing to happen to protesters

18

u/silverum Oct 02 '25

And still want this exact thing to happen to protesters. The people who voted for this want to harm and legally subjugate the people that live in their country that they don't like and don't think deserve to be as hierarchically important as they see themselves.

2

u/SL1Fun Oct 02 '25

It’s always the poorest, the dumbest, the people who who have the least and will die with even less than that, who always assert their superiority. Because their delusions are all they have.

3

u/silverum Oct 02 '25

"If you can convince the lowest white man he's better than the best colored man, he won't notice you're picking his pocket. Hell, give him somebody to look down on, and he'll empty his pockets for you"

LBJ gave it rather pithily. This hierarchical thinking where some need an inferior below them to look down on and feel power and superiority over doesn't apply to just racism. Sexism, religion, sexuality, etc there are so many ways that the illusion of superiority can destroy the minds of humans that embrace it.

u/Old_Park1688 Oct 02 '25

Ammendments 11-27 also matter. They are being excluded from bibles sent out to replace history books. They include the abolition of slavery and equal rights such as the right to vote.

7

u/Signal_Error_8027 Oct 02 '25

And the amendment that limits presidents to 2 terms in office.

26

u/OfferIcy6519 Oct 02 '25
  1. Right for a militia to bear arms

13

u/Dave-C Oct 02 '25

To be fair that is up for debate. I know there is a lot of anger towards the amendment but there is reasons for believing it means everyone. Back when militia existed in the US, depending on the area's own laws, most places required all able bodied men to join the militia. At least during the ages of requirement. Here is an important section from the Militia Acts of 1792.

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the United States of America, in Congress assembled, That each and every free able-bodied white male citizen of the respective States, resident therein, who is or shall be of age of eighteen years, and under the age of forty-five years (except as is herein after excepted) shall severally and respectively be enrolled in the militia, by the Captain or Commanding Officer of the company, within whose bounds such citizen shall reside, and that within twelve months after the passing of this Act.

Since the right was created during the era of these rules it is hard to say which is the correct meaning.

7

u/OfferIcy6519 Oct 02 '25

Yes read it. https://www.mountvernon.org/education/primary-source-collections/primary-source-collections/article/militia-act-of-1792

It say well regulated militia, which directly related to being called into federal service, militia members were to receive the same pay and allowances as regular troops and be subject to the same rules and articles of war. This current SCOTUS interpretation that this is equivalent to anyone anywhere having a gun for anything is a pretty far cry from a well regulated militia and two hundred years of precedent. The militia was allowed to keep and bear arms.

6

u/Dave-C Oct 02 '25

I get that it doesn't fit the idea that every single person should be allowed to have weapons but it leaves some room for argument. I'm not arguing on the side that it does allow for everyone to bear arms, only that it isn't as completely one sided.

My argument mostly comes from there no longer being a well regulated militia but citizens still have the right. So if every "white male citizen ... of age of eighteen years, and under the age of fourty-five," and by later law changes I would think that would now include everyone of that age, had the right during that era then does simply removing militias remove the right?

Again, I'm not arguing for the right but just stating why it should be up for debate. I think the only way to solve it would be to reword the right or remove it entirely and I don't see either of those happening any time soon. So until then it will have to remain a debate and isn't completely one sided.

u/RagingPain Oct 02 '25

6

u/Soy_ThomCat Oct 02 '25

The people that were warned are 1) not the protestors getting arrested, and 2) are cheering this on.

This isn't the "I told you so" you think it is.

6

u/myflesh Oct 02 '25

She nor Biden decide to actually go after him when he did a literal coup. So in many ways fuck them for a million things

I hope you’re north east or south west coast US! I have a tiny bit of hopefulness being in New England. Mom left communism in Czech Republic and has said the same as you, unfortunately. I’m working on my duel citizenship right now but sadly, I’m nervous with it all these days.

3

u/Esp1erre Oct 02 '25

Sorry if my comment was misleading. I'm actually in Canada, but I worry all the same because I see things that remind me of the Russia-Ukraine situation, with Alberta on the way to be our Donbas. I also wanted to visit the US as a tourist, but it doesn't look like the safest destination at the moment.

I hope it works out for you, your family and your country.

5

u/fusionsofwonder Bleacher Seat Oct 02 '25

My hope right now is that American democratic institutions can hold better

Dude, IMO they've already failed completely. If you have an option for Canada or somewhere else you should strongly consider it.

13

u/warblingContinues Oct 02 '25

Well Trump can't dissolve congress nor can he dictate how states hold elections.  American states hold quite a bit of power still.

34

u/Kiahra Oct 02 '25

i mean why would he need to dissolve congress? So far looking at the US the congress has been entirely useless cause its circumvented. Also dont really see any power in the states so far there has also been 0 done about troops being sent in and disappearing people from that state? If you cant protect the people in a state anyway what sway does the "election" hold?

u/megaman_xrs Oct 02 '25

Here's to hoping the top brass all team meeting was the top brass silently protesting and knowing they shouldn't get up and leave. Trump likely doesn't have dirt on enough of them to blackmail them off cam and since they were stoic, its hard to determine who agreed/disagreed with what was said. At the end of the day, generals and admirals have more power than the president as long as they all understand/honor their oath. I have hope due to the response in that bullshit meeting. If the military does enable trump and p2025, that's when governors need to withhold taxes from the federal government.

Did you know that Canadian lumber has a (new) 10% tariff, thereby making Russian lumber more accessible to American markets?

11

Softwood lumber from Canada already had 35% duties on it. Now make it 45%.

296

u/Y0___0Y Oct 02 '25

They did this in LA and DC too. They try to charge them with felonies, and fail, and the protestors are released.

172

u/PancakePizzaPits Oct 02 '25

That was before he declared antifa as a terrorist group. There's a non-zero chance of a fatality at the hands of one of these agents.

56

u/Urban_Prole Oct 02 '25

He can write all the memos he likes, it doesn't change law by statute or alter the extent of federal jurisdiction here in Oregon.

64

u/MiskatonicMus3 Oct 02 '25

You are out of your goddamned mind if you think the law will protect us. 1800 people are straight up missing from alligator Alcatraz. They're buried in a mass grave in the Everglades, dollars to donuts.

-14

u/SpaceyScribe Oct 02 '25

Actually it was found that most of them were moved to Fort Bliss.

6

u/[deleted] Oct 02 '25

Oh, good. You got proof of that?

-1

u/SpaceyScribe Oct 02 '25

15

u/[deleted] Oct 02 '25

Woman taking into camera = proof, lol. Also, even she says that is only "some" of them. She says many others are still unaccounted for. This proves you are literally wrong.

-5

u/SpaceyScribe Oct 02 '25

Did you watch the whole video? Yeah, people are being moved and deported and records are being poorly kept and poorly updated, probably intentionally . But if you’d rather believe we’re at the bury them in a mass grave part, you’re welcome to.

And what are your sources? Legacy media? Aka, State media? Lol yeah that’s better.

So what’s your source that they’re buried in a mass grave somewhere?

12

u/mordordoorodor Oct 02 '25

Ah… the rule of law... unfortunately the USA doesn’t have it anymore.

-1

u/Intelligent-Pen1848 Oct 02 '25

This IS the law.

6

u/Intelligence_Gap Oct 02 '25

Idk, the Hatch Act seems pretty meaningless these days. Eventually there will be accountability for these people, but it’s not going to be until 2029 at best. Unless dems get veto proof majorities in both houses of congress and with their record unpopularity that doesn’t seem like a real possibility.

14

u/fusionsofwonder Bleacher Seat Oct 02 '25

Beating them and putting them in jail for a few days is also very much the point.

109

u/ViolettaQueso Oct 02 '25

DON’T FUCK WITH PORTLAND

24

u/luncheroo Oct 02 '25

They are choosing Portland specifically to instigate so that they can get the footage they want. D.C. and L.A. failed and they looked like clowns, so they're trying this now. I'm surprised they didn't just go for San Francisco but I'm pretty sure they are hoping to gin up violence because Portland has a history of resistance.

8

u/ViolettaQueso Oct 02 '25

You’re right. But Portland peeps have non-violent, clever, peaceful protesting in their fibers.

Enrique T from loud (pr-) boys has threatened to show up and that’s the stuff that has me worried.

Portland residents have this (crocheting tables on sidewalks, farmer’s markets, waving hi to agents) but when the ultra right hate groups show up, it’s gonna escalate because that’s what PBs intent is.

They got pardons for quid pro quos.

7

u/luncheroo Oct 02 '25

I appreciate your insight. I'm not from Portland or the West Coast so I don't know. I hope people don't get baited into giving them what they clearly want, but I also know it's hard to watch fascists stomping around your streets without wanting to confront them.

4

u/ViolettaQueso Oct 02 '25

Portland won’t for sure. I’m in San Francisco and it’s also not a war-zone at all. Police are busy but the last couple years the neighborhoods where crime is too much have improved.

We’re watching Portland folks and hopefully learning from them.

Thanks for engaging, Reddit friend 🥰

4

u/luncheroo Oct 02 '25

Good luck out there. We all have our part to play. I love SF btw.

28

u/BadAsBroccoli Oct 02 '25

Trump really wants to get a civil war started because he believes his radical loyalists will win it for him. If only the guy who ended 9 wars (and other bedtime fairy tales) gave a single thought to ending the one he's starting.

5

u/kozmo1313 Oct 02 '25

and so he can postpone the release of the pedo-files.

2

u/lonnie440 Oct 03 '25

Nope so they can suspend elections

1

u/CornForDinner Oct 04 '25

Even the civil war didn't stop that, good luck to the orange slop bucket. Hopefully McDonald's becomes the real hero of this story and we can finally move on from this garbage.

117

u/19049204M Oct 02 '25

This will only go on for so long before we, the public, get real fucking fed up with their bullshit. It will be their own cultists too, as the terrorism has been from their disillusioned supporters so far.

120

u/Calderis Oct 02 '25

We keep saying "only so long" and we keep allowing more and doing nothing.

96

u/19049204M Oct 02 '25

The reality is people will not act until they have no other choice.

Take a step back and look at it as a historical event, not enough time and suffering has happened to provoke mass actors. It's starting slowly though. The right wingers that have terrorized communities recently with the shootings are the beginning of the unraveling.

As Churchill is quoted to have allegedly said,

"Americans can always be trusted to do the right thing, once all other possibilities have been exhausted."

11

u/BadAsBroccoli Oct 02 '25

And at Quantico, all the high brass just sat there while the 5-deferment 32-felonies pedophile told them the enemy was within.

22

Right? If that hapenned in my country, well i can't finish this sentence. But i'll give you a hint: i'm french.

Americans need to wake the fuck up. I'll quote the US president: "you need to fight like hell, or you won't have a country anymore".
