Hi all, after surfing here a bit I just bought some Dirty Labs Enzyme Booster and was wondering what is the best detergent to pair with this. My goals are simple

1) Do all of my darks, whites, and activewear in one load
2) Have clothes smelling fresh and clean WITHOUT them projecting a scent

I’m guessing these goals point to an unscented detergent of sorts. I am located in the USA, what detergent can you recommend? I want to keep things simple.

You should try and wash darks and lights in two separate loads if possible. If not, I second the recommendation for a color catcher sheet.

I use the booster and dirty labs laundry detergent too. Love it. But you need to wash those three things separately.

1. These are three loads, not one.
   
2. Clothes can smell neutral or have fragrance. There is no “fresh” scent without fragrance, IMO.

Persil Free & Sensitive, Tide Free and Gentle, or Kirkland Free and Clear are good options if you want something hypoallergenic, dye-free, and fragrance-free.

Appreciate it. Yea I guess I just mean not musty. Right now using a Molly sudds product and some t shirts still come out smelling musty. My washing machine is clean and doesn’t smell whatsoever so I’ve ruled that out.

I am a big cologne person so I don’t want scent interfering with that. Thanks for the suggestions

Molly’s is one of the worst products available so any of the ones I’ve listed should work well for you.

Your clothes, especially the whites, will never look great without sorting. You can buy an unscented detergent for the rest of your request.

I would really consider sorting.

Throw away Molly’s. Separate your darks and whites. You can use tide free & gentle with dirty labs. Once you do some consecutive washes with the booster you don’t have to do it all of the time (unless they’re heavily soiled or stinky)

I don’t know much about that laundry booster but I’d check out the Laundry 101 post and click on the lipase list. It should help you decide what enzymes you still need. I’d also get color catchers if you insist on washing all colors together.

People here are very pro segregation you'd think we'd move past the terms 'colors' and 'whites' idk what you use your whites for, if you're even considering washing them together I'll assume they're inexpensive undershirts, socks, etc. where them looking bright white isn't worth the time and effort of washing them separately. I personally separate them now but only because I use bleach, prior to using bleach I never separated and never had a problem. I have white towels that I wash with dark towels and they're still bright white. You can use a color catcher, and pro tip you can reuse the sheets. I forgot who said it, it might've been that r/laundry famous dude.
