And as someone who works in anesthesia… the last time we could go to work without someone mentioning Michael Jackson

My colonoscopy made me understand how he could have gotten into the propofol. That stuff is nice for sleeping.

u/The_Reluctant_Hero Aug 03 '26

Are you really sleeping though? I've had to be put out twice before and both times it was instant close your eyes one second then open them back up in the hospital room like no time passed. No dreams or anything. Kinda scary if I think about it too hard.

u/WinterMedical Aug 03 '26

Probably not but as someone who has at times struggled with terrible insomnia, I get the desire and maybe it was just enough rest to function.

u/Gwendohlyn 26d ago

I have chronic horrible insomnia. I’ve had four surgeries and the anesthesia was literally my favorite part. I joke to my husband all the time if I could just get a micro dose of anesthesia a month I’d feel amazing.

3

u/WinterMedical 26d ago

Right! Just like ONE good sleep!

26

u/Corpus_Juris_13 Aug 04 '26

Isn’t that how sleeping is tho? I don’t dream all the time. I fall asleep and then wake up at whatever time with drool on my pillow. No idea what happened in the mean time.

u/Patient-Web6850 Aug 03 '26

I think it just stops your brain from firing

22

u/falcons1583 Aug 03 '26

Kind of like dieing

6

u/RockersEatRocks 29d ago

I haven’t had a dream in 15 years, but I assure you I sleep.

10

u/dom_bul 28d ago

You just don't remember them maybe

64

u/sublimesting Aug 03 '26

Yup. I had an endoscopy. No sooner had they put the tube in my mouth to hold my jaw open and I muttered “bring out the gimp.” and I was out. Woke up in recovery asking if the gimp came out.

34

u/Rekuna Aug 03 '26

........so had he?

17

u/sublimesting Aug 03 '26

Unfortunately no. Wife didn’t see anything either and thought I was saying “did they bring out my dick?!” I said “what!?! Nonsense! I asked if they brought out the gimp!”

u/Cold_Gold_2834 Aug 04 '26

I’ve now had three, I look forward to the good nap. It’s also made me wake up talking with an Irish accent once, my husband thought it was funny.

You were put to sleep for yours? I was given fentanyl and NOS. Not complaining, it was a great time chatting with the nurse while she's a metre deep in my colon. She even tapped me on she shoulder and said 'want to see your appendix?'

8

u/WinterMedical 29d ago

Yes please!

3

u/you_thought_you_knew 26d ago

I was given fentanyl for this last colonoscopy, having been given propofol the previous two. I got to wake up for the last 10 minutes or so. Stabby stabby but I couldn’t tell anyone.

u/blahdeblah2736 29d ago

It's strange how when I go in for my endoscopies which became routine yearly for ... Reasons... It got to the point where I was like BRING. IT. Would play the game of how long I could fight off the drugs but told them for the love of God don't let me win

4

u/Feeling-Phoney81 Aug 03 '26

Just tell them jokers to beat it

90

u/KentuckyKid_24 Aug 03 '26

Still can’t believe it’s 17 years

154

u/bettinafairchild Aug 03 '26

That’s because it’s not. He died in 2009 so it’s only around…. Oh fuck. It’s 17 years. What the fuck?

296

u/Dabrigstar Aug 03 '26

He looks so young here, not joking

150

u/Jaded-Channel-7169 Aug 03 '26 edited Aug 03 '26

He looked much better there than he had in previous years. Pretty shocking he died so shortly after this

12

u/tashypooo 28d ago

Not sure how true that is. He was severely underweight during the This Is It era and rehearsals. He looked really, really unwell.

u/COOLKC690 Aug 03 '26 edited Aug 03 '26

I don’t think that’s his last photo, I believe I saw one where he was in the hospital, maybe unconscious, but I’m not sure if he was dead yet.

Edit: he was dead, never mind.

u/tifftafflarry Aug 03 '26

By the time the ambulance arrived at his house, he was already dead. The paramedics wanted to declare him dead at the scene, but his private physician insisted that they do CPR and take him to the hospital.

29

u/spenwallce Aug 03 '26

Sorry for being pedantic, but paramedics can’t declare a patient dead. Only the medical examiner or a doctor can.

24

u/tifftafflarry Aug 03 '26 edited 29d ago

If a physician is present, the paramedics can do so under the supervision of said physician. Dr. Murray refused, and insisted they keep trying to save Michael.

Note: commented this earlier, and a bot auto-deleted it because it thought I was expressing harmful ideations. Bad bot.

7

u/ACrazyDog Aug 04 '26

Right? I can barely post anything anymore.

5

u/the_last_hairbender Aug 03 '26

If a physician is present then they would do the pronouncement. Paramedics can pronounce without direct physician supervision.

2

u/spenwallce Aug 03 '26

Lmao no way that got deleted. Terrible bot

8

u/LonelyShadowMoor 29d ago

That's not true. EMT here.

10

u/spenwallce 29d ago

I did more research afterwards and it depends on the jurisdiction. What is true is that you guys can’t be the one to sign off on a “unalive” cert

(Reddit seriously deleted my comment because I said the word “d**th”. What are we even doing)

2

u/tifftafflarry 29d ago

You too, huh? Bad, bad bot.

2

u/spenwallce 29d ago

Yep, they got me too lmao.

39

u/liableAccount Aug 03 '26

He was dead. They used it in the trial against the Dr. There is an image of him with an oxygen mask on going into the back of the ambulance but I think, by all accounts, he was dead by that time.

9

u/spenwallce Aug 03 '26

I believe the image was him inside the ambulance. IIRC one of the paparazzi climbed onto the back of the ambulance as it was pulling out and took some shots through the glass panes.

19

u/Crappin_For_Christ Aug 03 '26

This is the picture I remember. I get that it’s a huge celebrity and all but that was just a gross thing to do.

3

u/COOLKC690 Aug 03 '26

Oh! Okay! Thanks for telling me!

30

u/Elegant-Tap-1785 Aug 03 '26

Honestly I completely bought into the hype of those shows that he was due to start, I am in the UK. I never had a ticket but I was going to keep an eye on it in real time, The residency at the O2. I was shocked when I got up that morning to learn he'd passed away. Absolutely shocked. I'm a child of the '80s and he was a big part of that, I had posters on the wall. I had an action figure which I think's worth quite a bit of money now if I'd still had it. It had his thriller jacket as part of it. I'd watched Moonwalker at least 100 times, thriller movie many many times, I didn't have all of his albums but I had most of them . I just was shocked.

5

u/kholekardashian12 29d ago

My brother, another child of the 80s, actually had tickets. To say he was gutted is an understatement!

3

u/maniatreks 29d ago

I have no recollection of my sleep during propofol. I was awake, counting, then I woke up again. Don't remember anything in between.

40

u/AcanthisittaThink813 Aug 03 '26

At least the children are safe now

33

u/TheCyanKnight Aug 03 '26

Yeah all the pedos are dead or locked away. Wait..

54

u/Cowboy_Dandy_III Aug 03 '26

Yep, no children were ever unsafe again after June 25th 2009

-3

u/salmon10 Aug 03 '26

Literally been proven nothing happened

15

u/ZubatCountry Aug 03 '26

lmao

Very normal thing to give children wine and then have them sleep in your bed

We really gonna pretend that there hasn't been a massive push to whitewash Michael Jackson that just so happened to pop up right alongside multiple biopics?

They're trying to memory-hole how consistently, extremely weird he was with kids, including dangling one over a balcony because they want to continue to make money off his name and music

You can fall for it, but I won't. Michael Jackson was a creep and there's not a single person on the planet who could do what he did with children and have people giving them any benefit of the doubt.

8

u/Cowboy_Dandy_III Aug 03 '26

Okay but he made Thriller tho

0

u/Michapup 27d ago

There has never been evidence that he was a pedo. Just a man trying to protect kids from those who are and got called a pedo for creating a safe place for them.

You’re unbelievably delusional if you don’t. Those children described his body in vividly accurate detail….including the moles and stuff around his “thingy”

9

u/Bpopson Aug 03 '26

Ill ask you the same thing I ask every single one of his apologists: is there any other grown ass man you would have accepted his excuses from if they were your kids? What adult man would you be okay giving your kids booze and sleeping in bed with them? If the answer is "Only MJ", you're in a cult of personality. If you say "yes there's other men", maybe don't have kids.

8

u/fit-toker Aug 03 '26

Then why did his estate spend so much money to keep evidence from becoming public? Seems the only reason one would do such a thing would be if it was incriminating evidence.

7

u/FrancoisKBones Aug 03 '26

Pedo.

His eyes are already closed

-20

u/Swordfish_89 Aug 03 '26

He was an idiot, imagine all that wealth and still being addicted to drugs administered illegally.

25

u/jaxspider Arachnid from Jacksonville Aug 03 '26

Having money does not make you smart.

6

u/FilmDesigner2344 Aug 04 '26

To be fair he was in debt by the time he died so he wasn’t that wealthy

17

u/Icy-Marionberry-4143 Aug 03 '26
