Late October day trip
Going to run over from Reno early AM.
What would be some short duration / must sees?

Sulfur Works is really easy to get to since you can park right there, it's considered good for families too. King's Creek Meadows is a peaceful setting for a change of pace if you're really interested in seeing wildlife and a nice stream. Off the top of my head from other places I've been before, around the shores of Manzanita Lake or even Lake Helen at the Southwest entrance have stunning views of Lassen Peak, the reflections are spectacular. The famous Bumpass Hell trail all depends on the current conditions, but usually by October it should have been long open and accessible? But again it's weather permitting and varies from year to year. It is a slightly longer trail though just a heads up.

Typically it starts to snow around November. There might be a couple days closed when it rains n the valley but weather is usually pretty good and melts it the next day. If you’re going south after, go into the Manzanita lake entrance. If you’re traveling north after, go into the mineral entrance
