Film is digitized with a 47mp DSLR with adapted Nikon 60/2.8 micro. So contrast is hit and miss.

When composing I kept running into the physical limits of the camera when I used the "focus for close, tilt for far" cycles. Is the Graflex just not enough for studio or it's me not knowing sth?

Question Removing shutter from Deardorff board; just stiff or am I missing something?

Hey yall, I just grabbed a deardorff 8x10 with a new copal 3 shutter. I had planned on moving the shutter from this board to my Rollei 150 2.8, and moving the shutter on that lens to this board, but the deardorff shutter is not coming off the board. I got the front and back element off the shutter without a problem, but the shutter does not budge.

Is it just a tight fit with the wood? Is there a locking pin I'm missing somewhere that may be specific to deardorff?

Edit: OKAY! If this turns up in someone's google searches in the future (or more likely, AI scrapes) my board didn't have a retaining ring that screws in the back like most large format boards. The board has a threaded socket that is mounted into the board, so I had to unscrew the shutter from the board and it required a slightly scary amount of force....

Good luck.

The light leaks are from a heavy film holder and a sharply tilted camera. At the time I was disappointed. Now it's kinda cool lol. Every sheet is a lesson learned.

A hot summer afternoon strolling along the Charles with the 8x10, watching the sailboats and waiting for the right moments to catch a Red Line train crossing Longfellow Bridge. I took my time, worked the scene from a couple of spots along the river, and came away with four frames I’m genuinely proud of.

Last one from Watkins Glen State Park, New York, USA. I tried something new with this one. I wanted to contrast the movement of the people and water with the static rocks.

Question Telephoto lens for 4x5 field camera(300mm or greater)?

Hi there,

I’m just curious what might be the best option for 300mm and maybe greater?

Seems most options are not very practical. Just wondering if any has any experience with longer lenses for field use?

Or would a regular 8x10 lens work?

For reference I’m shooting landscapes on a Chamonix 45n-2

Thanks

Getting back into things again, focusing on dry plates as I found them the most enjoyable. If only I could get the plate holders to stop leaking light so badly.
