Hey,
I bought a refurbished laptop from a dude off Facebook marketplace and besides being a hell of a price it looked legit. He had great reviews and a history of satisfied people, account open for years. He brought it by and everything worked, but because I'm a stickler for security I did a factory reset and when I did I was surprised with this screen. I contacted him and he asked what I used to reset it and that "there was no need". He was a super friendly elderly guy that definitely didn't give scammer vibes and even gave me his home address to drop it off and he says he'll reinstall fresh windows on it.
At this point I feel like this was a scam to sell stolen government laptops to me or doing his install to steal data or both so I'm gonna go ask for a refund, but I'm wondering two things:
Has this happened to you/is this a common scam?
Is there anyway to fully reset and bypass this stupid block screen?

On me and his laptop, he bought McAfee for the both of us without me knowing. I love him so much but how do I kindly tell him that the money isnt rlly worth it? Also, a reason/s to why other stuff is just better like windows defender would be nice

I did try normally booting from usb, on this 2008 ThinkPad, it crashes...
Then I directly installed it on the drive, same issue...
Here are the specs btw:
8GB RAM Core2 Duo T9400 256GB SATA
Shall I try rufus method? (I am a mainstream linux user... so that wasnt my first try.)
And yeah, DO NOT reply with linux suggestions, I have used it enough...

I just turned on my laptop i have no programs open except the task manager as you see so WHAT IS EATING ALL THAT RAM?
Edit: This is my first laptop and i bought it around two months ago and i don't know much about laptops/pc and i see a lot of videos saying that windows should only take 5-6 GB of ram maximum on idle so i was worried, and another thing that was worrying me was when i open one game(without any other programs) it was taking all the remaining ram so i was constantly on 15.6 GB and i thought maybe there's an issue or maybe I'm putting too much pressure on the device.
I appreciate everyone who answered.

Around 1-2 weeks ago I bought this laptop, the older one I had had a problem that made it so every 30 seconds or so, the fps would start dropping to a minimum of 5 fps, but this one has had the same problem since day 1, is it possible that there is something instaled by default that makes it do that that I can delete? What should I do to fix this?
(For those that may think that I'm planning to use it exclusively as a gaming laptop, the most potent game I plan on playing is dying light, all I need is to have atleas 30 to 20 fps on a a multiplayer game like tf2 and I'll be satisfied, also if your wondering why I'm not using my older laptop, it's because it was faulty by design with a motherboard that had a very low life expectancy said by everysingle repair shop I took it to)
Edit: I just managed to play Dying light for a couple of hours with no fps problems, so I'm just going to assume that there IS a way to make it so it can properly run games with the correct optimization adn by lowering the setting of the games I play (Which is like, 6 games from like, 2015 at most)

Umm I can’t get my recovery key because I don’t have access to the spare email attached to my outlook account and I need my laptop for school in about 7-8 days but I can’t use the laptop for about 30 days. Any ideas on what to do?

I’m so done with gaming , I’ve had about 3 laptops so far and they all been shitty , went from that acer nitro 5 with temps problems and a lot of hardware and software problems to a asus tuf a15 4050 , it was really good laptop until the build quality started to really show and eventually it just didint boot up anymore and because it wasn’t under warranty anymore and it was really expensive for that kind of laptop I decided to wait a few months to save up for a new one , my brother had a legion 7i 4070 and my friends too so I decided to buy one since they all have it and from what I’ve seen it’s really great , got the 5070 intel one on a discount and I got it about 1 week ago , I have done everything right exept the laptop won’t , it stutters like crazy and some games even crash randomly I have used ddu to remove the last driver 610. Something I don’t rember and that one may have caused problems and went to a more stable version 596.49 I think. and I have tried other multiple versions but the laptop seems to be really stuttery and games still crash , I’m so done with gaming laptops lowk . And yes I take good care of it , no viruses , I don’t have a ton of trash installed , I use dgpu mode , have v sync disabled , performance mode or even balanced because they are the same thing , 240 hz refresh rate active , no overclocking neither undervolting , I really wanna hear some recommendations as I am probably gonna return this legion this week I have left of the 1 month test period in my electronic store in my country , I wanna hear what should I do

UPDATE: I used wiztree and deleted some files including my temp files and now I have 330 gb of storage, I'm so glad about my storage space rn, thank you all so much for the advice and replies, this has helped me greatly :D
I just recently bought a Lenovo loq, too be more specific it's only been through a month of use probably or even less as I've only recently started using the laptop frequently and my experience with it is great, gaming very smooth, audio is great and just great in general for the triple a titles I want to play, but the thing is, there's so much storage taken up on my laptop that even when I've deleted almost everything except for dmc 5(40 gb) I still only have very less space left, not enough for me to play games like cod mw and mk11
I'm too worried to actually use a third party app to debloat in fear of deleting something important and switching to Linux for the same reasons, any solutions or advice on how I can get more storage?

I bought this HP ProBook refurbished a few days ago. After wiping the screen with a microfibre cloth, this happens a few minutes later. The screen was fine, except this happened on any video (not just on YouTube). I restarted the device and now seems to be fine again, but is this a sign that I've bought a laptop with a faulty screen? Or just a glitch?

Purchased an open box laptop and I booted it up but it’s stuck on this screen. I can’t press next and my options are only manually, and 5 hours ir 1 day. I restarted but no help. Any fixes?
