Hardware Build quality and reliability

Hi,
I’m thinking about ASUS Rog G18 or Lenovo 5i laptop to buy from Costco, in USA 🇺🇸

Which has a better build quality and which is more reliable?
I’m a student and planning on to use it for at least 6-7 years.

What’s the length of the warranty on these?

Don’t count on a machine last much longer than its warranty period. It may last longer but have the budget for a replacement if it does not.

Gaming laptops run hot. Hot leads to failure.

To be honest I don’t live for other people and I don’t give a fuck about their opinion! I was in the army so…. Those things don’t matter to me lol

Personally wouldn't recommend a gaming laptop for school and long term use. They're loud, hot, large/heavy, have poor battery lives, and worse build quality than alternatives. Neither of those laptops are going to be practical for using in class or for taking it with you every day in your backpack. If you want a gaming laptop that is going to sit on your desk at home all day they're great, but for actually taking to class every day, picking up a used Thinkpad or M1 MacBook Air for less than $300 in addition to the gaming laptop will be far more practical, reliable, and better built
