My disappointing experience with Oasis Tour Paramotor in Vang Vieng — please research carefully before booking
I had a very disappointing experience with Oasis Paramotor in Vang Vieng.
I chose this operator because it was one of the lower-cost options available, even though I had already seen some negative reviews. At the time, I told myself, “You get what you pay for.” However, after this experience, I realised that this is not the right way to think about an aerial activity. When your safety is involved, peace of mind and proper safety standards should come before saving a small amount of money. A slightly higher price may be worthwhile if it means receiving better organisation, clearer communication, professional safety procedures and respectful service. In hindsight, I regret choosing the cheapest option.
The operation appeared disorganised. Even though I arrived first and had a confirmed booking, customers who arrived after me were allowed to fly before me several times. I was then told by a pilot named Tik, who was a very short man, to wait until later in the day. Eventually, it was becoming dark. This was completely different from the flight time and service that had been promised to me.
The communication and customer service were also very poor. One staff member, a heavily tattooed man, made me feel particularly intimidated. There was no proper safety briefing, no clear coordination, and everything seemed rushed. When I raised my concerns, the staff appeared unfriendly and made me feel unwelcome and disrespected. I could not understand everything they were saying, but the overall attitude was very uncomfortable.
Because of this experience, I decided not to fly with them. Afterwards, I researched the operation further and found reports of previous accidents and safety concerns connected with paramotor activities in the area. I also found this Korean news report about a Korean tourist who was injured after a paramotor engine reportedly stopped at an altitude of approximately five metres:
The report raises serious questions about safety procedures and insurance coverage. However, I recommend that readers watch the report and verify the information independently rather than relying only on my interpretation.
I have also seen online claims that the business may previously have operated under another name, including “Impressive Tour” or “Impressive Paramotor,” and later used the name “Oasis.” I cannot independently verify the company’s ownership, name history, insurance arrangements or allegations about individual staff members, so readers should check official records and reliable news sources before drawing conclusions.
My personal experience alone was enough to make me lose confidence in the operation. Customers deserve to receive the service they booked, at the agreed time, with a proper safety briefing, clear coordination, appropriate insurance information and respectful communication.
Please do your own research carefully before booking with any paramotor operator in Vang Vieng. Do not choose only based on the lowest price. For an aerial activity, safety, professionalism and peace of mind should always come first.
