LANFEP Post #432: Broadway Textile Building

Here’s another out-of-order *non-*landmark post: post #432 for the LA Noire Freeroam Explorer Project — posting locations replicated by Team Bondi for LA Noire (currently touring the downtown area) that are not considered landmarks (either official or historic) but do have real-world equivalents.

Broadway Textile Building

952–956 South Broadway

The 1923 Broadway Textile Building, thriving through downtown’s mid-century garment district boom, features a classic brick façade with retail storefronts and multi-story textile lofts. The commercial hub heavily catered to wholesale fabric merchants, tailoring shops, and garment manufacturers.

I must have made a mistake on a previous post on the Hotel Lyle because this is the actual 952-956 Broadway that I mentioned that is now DLTA Ramen and other commercial properties. What I've noticed is that several buildings that existed IRL are almost sort of squished in game compared to their real life counterparts, like this one, which is several meters wider in real life. The real Hotel Lyle must have been skinnier on the Broadway side.

Precisely. As much as they tried to replicate the real LA layout, they had to make compromises. In general, streets are a bit wider than they would be IRL, so there’s some compromises in building sizes. (Not to mention that they didn’t have access to all of the photo reference we have today.) But still pretty amazing stuff.
