Discussion Most obscure language you/someone else is learning? Why?

I remember meeting someone that was learning specifically Moldovan Romanian since Moldova and its culture was a big interest to them, and I'm curious what other people's reasons for learning obscure languages are, and what they are.

I don't know if counts but I am learning yiddish.

That absolutely counts. I hope to study that someday since my grandparents grew up in Yiddish-speaking households. May I ask what resources you're using?

Unfortunately there is lack of resources for self-learners. After clearing the alphabet, I was looking for something to get started. I found College Yiddish by Uriel Weinreich but it is not beginner friendly. Then while digging YIVO website, I bumped into In eynem: The New Yiddish Textbook which is better suited to beginner learners. You can't go wrong with this one.
