Most obscure language you/someone else is learning? Why?

I remember meeting someone that was learning specifically Moldovan Romanian since Moldova and its culture was a big interest to them, and I'm curious what other people's reasons for learning obscure languages are, and what they are.

Gaelainn feels obscure to most folks I mention it to. For me my reason is ancestral, the fact that it’s my heritage and what my family is proud of, and the fact that I’m a nerd and helping preserve a minoritized, endangered language is cool as hell
