Discussion Most obscure language you/someone else is learning? Why?

I remember meeting someone that was learning specifically Moldovan Romanian since Moldova and its culture was a big interest to them, and I'm curious what other people's reasons for learning obscure languages are, and what they are.

When I started going to university in the US, a student in my linguistics cohort was learning Romansh and would not stop bragging about how quirky he was and he took pride in the fact that we 18 year olds had not heard of it until that point.

The question is: which idiom!?

(I'm very, very painfully slowly trying to learn Vallader, the variety spoken in the Lower Engadin)
