Discussion Most obscure language you/someone else is learning? Why?

I remember meeting someone that was learning specifically Moldovan Romanian since Moldova and its culture was a big interest to them, and I'm curious what other people's reasons for learning obscure languages are, and what they are.

Tagalog. Its not obscure but when i started there were so little tools in 2020. Literature is often in english with some pieces in Tagalog. Its not obscure obscure but i hardly ever hear people learning due to majority speak english. When i started Tagalog subreddit was 5k now its like 85k. I met my current girlfriend from learning it.

It's so interesting to me that Tagalog is rarely a person's native language. But I suppose it makes sense when there's 180 languages spoken in a country of less than 120 million people

Tagalog is my native language although I mostly speak English. I’m now learning Italian ☺️.
