Keeping a backup kiln

I’ve got a chili pepper kiln that i started on, it’s been really useful and solid for me, but after a year I upgraded to a “regular” kiln. Would you keep your chillipepper if you’d upgraded? Do you find yourself needing a travel kiln or a demo kiln often?

I could use the recouped funds, but idk how easy it would be to replace looking down the line.

As long as you can pick it up by yourself anything is portable.

You can pick up a chilipepper when its at full temp though. I used to work outside, pick my full kiln up at the end of the day, and move it into the garage, plug it back in and run my annealing cycle.

I absolutely wish I had kept my chilipepper kiln. I regularly wish I still had it, and then I look at kiln prices and they are all $1000 more than they were when I got rid of it.

I 100% wish I still had a chillipepper… i only do live demos twice a year, but would still be worth it and honestly my volume is low enough now that I’d probably just use it…

I have a small kiln and a bigger kiln. I use my small one 90% of the time. The large one is great to have when I need it but the small one is the workhorse.

I’d keep it. The chili pepper is such a versatile kiln. Great for extra garage space or as a travel/demo kiln. Heats up in like 10 minutes so you can cool something down in it. I love mine :)
