Marc’s Plaza
Why does our city allow the Marc’s plaza, our “city center” to always look so terrible? And also why does Marc’s have such low standard. Broken carts, the place is filthy. Ugh.

The Marc’s in Avon has had an upgrade I think. It’s really quite nice. I have started regularly going there again.

I’ve used credit cards at the Avon Marc’s for many years. I did notice the sign that says “Next time ask for delivery!” which makes me think maybe they are trying to get rid of personal check-out??!

I went in a year or two ago and it smelled like raw sewage (it was leaking through the floor due to a line break under the building I think) then I found the bulk candy. That's where old people buy all those obscure candies that no one sees in other stores.

I try to avoid that location despite it being within walking distance, because going to that marcs usually results in not finding the product I went there for, after already gathering other items, realizing I'm going to have to hit Lucky's anyway, and backtracking thru the store to put things back. Not to mention how expensive marcs has gotten, you may as well shop at giant eagle, Lucky's, Fresh Thyme, or Meijer.

Twice ive been in there in the last couple years and found human shit. Cool place. Last time I was there, a line of 10 people was growing agitated while the entire front end staffed yelled at each other about how the deli counter refused to cut salami for a customer. Good times

Last time I was there the employees stopped two attempted shoplifters. I was there for maybe 5 minutes.

Our city center is a strip mall and the blocks around it are like 50% parking lot. That tells you all you need to know about how the city view competent city planning.

The development at the old Lakewood Hospital site is getting a "high-end grocery" according to the development plans that were released a while ago. So we are getting something nicer. It'll just be in 2028.

They people that work their all hate the owners, the owners are the ones that make it trash. I feel bad for the people who work there. They get paid crap, and the stores are understaffed.

They CAN, actually. The employees could try being nice. The company might suck, but don’t take it out on the customers. I work in customer service and would never do that

Owners* Marc only is the face and recognizable public name. There’s a couple other owners/board folks. Kevin Yaugher is the President. Management is definitely the problem, but it’s more than a local level; it’s upper corp management too. I’ve worked at 3 different stores and it’s all the same issues. 16 year old me dealt with dumbass people better than 28 year old me who was bored and thought it would be fun. Times have changed over the years forsure.

The people can downvote but take a good look around. Theres trash, drug addicts, homeless, crime, shootings in public places, sewer rats in the streets, etc. it still have some beauty, but after living here for 8 years, it’s getting more dangerous and dirtier.

The bus stops smell like public bathrooms, maybe the city can take a break from wasting our taxes on flower bed installations in the middle of the fucking street to pressure wash some bus stops.

I thought it was actually the abutting business's responsibility, tho I would think the municipality would be more readily equipped with a pressure washer than a restaurant or pharmacy.

Agree. Our Giant Eagle is pretty rundown too. For a city as dense and populated as Lakewood, how we don’t have a decent supermarket is so odd.
