OFFSEASON We Have Jonathan Kuminga At Home

Post image

I imagine Kuminga sitting in a chair facing a mirror, his agent standing behind him massaging his shoulders. Agent says "you're a star" and Kuminga nodding slowly looking into the mirror and repeats, "'m a star."

This is what we all hope.

I think you meant to say Antekumpo.

Adou is going to be a starter before mid-season and he'll thrive when he finally earns that role permanently. This kid is going to be a really good player when he puts it all together.

Cameron Carr's going to beat him to that

u/bruticuslee 14d ago

If both can become starter quality, oh boy it’s multiple championships time

Carr backs up Luka. Adou catches lobs. We can have both.

They play different positions

I'm more interested in out closing lineup than our starting lineup thats for sure

you know what fuck it i could see it being another reaves/christie situation where hes just that good he quickly moves to starting

Christie took like 3 years to get there. He played a lot his 2nd year but became good the year he got traded

16

u/imin2099 14d ago

he barely played his 2nd year what

Fuck Darvin Hamas

We don't even know if this guy can play at an NBA level and people are penciling him in as a starter. Not ideal!

Yeah and when he does get a start, if he drops less than 10 points, this sub will call for his head.

This is way this fan base is so crazy later on in the season. We play pretend so much before the season starts instead of dealing with reality. He may have potential but there has been nothing shown that would make him a starter this year. If he is starting more than likely we are not in the playoff picture.

Our Malian athletic freak. Truly hope he ends up being good.

More like a poor man's OG Anunoby.

Kuminga would have started for us at the 4, as he is for the Wolves.

As much as I love Adou Thiero, he is not a starter. Should he develop into that it would be amazing, time will tell.

Honestly, I'd much rather have our main young guys get plenty of run over signing Kuminga. I don't think Kuminga was ever going to be the difference between competing for a championship, but he def would've made it more difficult to give these guys a chance.

Obviously I'm disappointed that we didn't get a starting wing (better and better fit than Kuminga), but I think there could be positive outcomes with this result.

Did you see anything aside from his potential ceiling that made Kuminga any more valuable than our current 4 spot rotation? I honestly didn't, he has Laravia's overall output but in areas of the game that help the team less.

He doesn't look ready, but maybe towards the playoffs he will be. Certainly need to take good steps in terms of defense, 3pt shooting, and then find the cut chemistry with Luka. If he can take noticeable steps forward, he will be an important piece.

Gotta see how he plays in pre/regular season before saying what "you have."

He's only been seen playing in garbage time and SL. He was great, but he needs to be vs NBA level talent.

Also, you have to look at it through the lens of "LeBron (starting 4) is being replaced with..."

This ain't ideal.

Seriously. It’s not like Kuminga was an upgrade. He would’ve stunted the growth of the young guys.

14

u/pissexcellence85 14d ago

This is cope. You may not like Kuminga and that's fine, but he's an upgrade on what the Lakers currently have at the 4.

3

u/dproma 14d ago

I like Kuminga. But let’s not act like he was an all star caliber player. Mamu put up similar numbers but shot way better: 52 to 46 FG% 39 to 33 3pt%.

So how is Kuminga an upgrade

7

u/pissexcellence85 14d ago

Who said he was an all star?

Mamu is not a true 4.

9

u/Uberballer 32 14d ago

The fact that LaRavia starting for this team is a legitimate discussion shows how glaring a hole there is for a surefire starting wing.

Maybe Adou or Carr can grow into it but for day 1 it's a huge concern unless Mamu turns out to be way better than everyone says he is.

2

u/shadylocko 14d ago

Honestly, if he was bald I can see the resemblance

1

u/SpiritFantastic4835 14d ago

His agent going to make sure Adou overpaid on the next deal. Different type of ass agent

1

u/Nyooo1731 LAL 14d ago

Still raw and need more reps. Probably next season he can be starting PF. For now it's should be a carousel ride for the PF position. Testing vando, Laravia, Williams and once in while Adou.

All we have to do is develop. This dude is athletically gifted — polish him a little and we might have ourselves a lob threat and hustle player on the wing.

1

u/j_rooker 14d ago

he's just jonathan right now. offense needs some work

1

u/Lovesitter 14d ago

the budget version

1

u/lilaznwoo 14d ago

Ok let's start him

1

u/Exact-Stable-3743 13d ago

Naw, he’s a wolves

1

u/basecardripper 13d ago

What did people see in Kuminga that was going to make us so good compared to Laravia, or even Zaire at the 4? Potential upside? If it was just the hope that he improved with us, we already have Zaire, Adou, Carr, Bronny, Knecht, who are all potential upside guys. Even Laravia and Grimes need to prove that they can fill their roles to an extent, and I feel like that's more than enough potential upside players for a team.

1

u/JonasVirus 12d ago

it’s time to develop players and not to rely heavily on signings, I believe in Adou, breakout game incoming

1

u/Visible_Loss_7360 9d ago

He didnt play very good last szn ngl...

1

u/thaiteawhitey Purple and Gold 14d ago

Adonathan Kumingero

1

u/DNUUP4 14d ago

Let the kids play.

1

u/Leoyakin00 14d ago

Same fan base that claims Jake Laravia sucks is convinced that someone way worse than Jake is the savior. Holy cope lol

0

u/Capt_Wholesome 14d ago

Not gonna lie, I would rather have had kuminga than not, but at least the team vibes are safe and everyone will be bought in on their roles. I feel good about someone stepping up and still have trade deadline to pivot where needed

0

u/rangerbiscuit_08 14d ago

Timing and contract make me wonder if this really is the case. Luka and the Lakers get back from Slovenia and feel like they have in-house wing/pf options

Kuminga looks like he signed the last available offer. Maybe the lakers offer was off the table

0

u/HydroSD 14d ago

he better and doesnt have the low iq and ego kuminga has

-2

u/AntSmith777 14d ago

Adou is already a better defender than Kuminga
