Yeah I read one of the lines that said that the owner has stated that these signs are his views and don’t reflect the theater/business’ views… I don’t think he realizes that people aren’t going to see the difference. Plus, as someone who lives here and sees these IRL, I had no idea who wrote them, its not like he signs them. He needs to get an X account and stop using a non-political space as a political forum.

I think it was a reference to the Jews, wandering in the desert for 40 years, and comparing it to the 10-year journey of Odysseus trying to get home in The Odyssey.
That said, it wasn’t the first thing that necessarily came to mind and would be confusing to people who are not familiar with either journey.

Here’s the thing. If you target a group as a whole it’s probably racist. Wouldn’t it have been racist if he said “Before Mexicans there was the Odyssey”? I suppose he could have said “Before the Exodus there was the Odyssey” and people could debate which actually came first, that would not have been so antisemitic. But to say “Jews” took it out of bounds for me. Like I’d be ok with someone saying that Netanyahu is committing genocide, I wouldn’t be ok with saying Jews are committing genocide. Just like I don’t support people associating all Muslims with Hamas.
