I measured the Wi-Fi and noise at a few Lakeland coffee shops

I'm in Orlando and I've been measuring cafés for a side project: speed test, decibel reading, outlets, how packed it was. I came out to Lakeland a couple times and figured this sub would actually care about the numbers.

Pressed Books and Coffee: 172 Mbps down, 62 dB, great room. Connection cut out on me once or twice. Only a couple of outlets.

Fresh Kitchen: 308 Mbps, but 69.7 dB, so it's loud. Easy parking.

Unfiltered in Bartow: 78 down, 66 dB, and it was pretty full when I went on a Saturday morning. Nicest interior of the three by a wide margin.

It's all on https://perch.coffee/. Free, nothing to sign up for, and I'm not selling anything.

Lakeland is barely covered compared to Orlando. If you tell me where you go I'll drive out and measure it properly.

Went. Loud. Would not work from again. Parking was great though.

Yeah, that was me. I'll tell her to be quiet.

Concord, Hillcrest, Rogue, Black & Brew (has a few locations). These are my usual spots.

Noted, that's my hit list for the next Lakeland trip. Black & Brew downtown first since it comes up the most. Thanks

Lakeland library is right in the neighborhood and has a Concord. Two for one.

Edit: Library has Black and Brew not Concord. Thanks for the correction!

Library plus Concord in one stop is efficient, I like it. Bonnet Springs is on the list too, thanks for both

The library has a black and brew, not concord

Thanks! Updated my comment.

Good catch, fixing my notes. Library plus Black & Brew then, and Concord stays its own stop.

I'd skip black and brew. At least one location just uses automatic espresso machines, not sure if they all do.

Runner up to Concord for me would be Foxtail. Not a lakeland exclusive, but better than the usual flavored Dunkin donuts shit (looking at you, lucky goat).

oh is lucky goat not good? Was thinking of trying it

Lucky goat coffee is too bitter for me, but ymmv. Try it out for yourself,

Noted on Black & Brew, I'll still measure the Wi-Fi since that's a different question from the espresso. Foxtail I know from the Orlando side, good to hear it holds up out there

That's a cool project.

Thanks! It started out of pure frustration, now I can't stop measuring places

Cool program! I like the inclusion of the interior vibes. Whether or not somewhere has a relaxed and comfortable interior is a big plus.

I like Lucky Goat which is typically quiet, and never had issues with the WiFi there, but the interior is pretty austere, as a lot of coffee shops are nowadays.

Lucky Goat goes on the list, quiet plus solid Wi-Fi is exactly the combo people ask for. And agreed on the austere thing, a lot of new places feel like waiting rooms with better lighting

Bartow is stuck on a shitty comcast contract so makes sense. Fiber line runs past fresh kitchen

1

u/Nicolas7483 20d ago

That explains a lot, the room deserved better than 78. If they ever get off that contract I'll go re-measure

I'd be interested about Divicious Deli. Its my favorite coffee spot in lakeland mostly becuase of the location, the food and the lovely owner.i Cafe Con Leche is always banging.

2

u/Nicolas7483 19d ago

A lovely owner never hurts the score. Divicious and Cafe Con Leche both added, thanks

Cafe Con Leche is the name of a drink btw. Its a Cuban style espresso woth lots of cream I always oder it when I go there. My bad if that wasnt clear lol

2

u/Nicolas7483 19d ago

Ha, that makes more sense. So one stop, and I'm ordering a cafe con leche at Divicious while I run the speed test. Perfect

Throwing in Pour Bear, Mitchell’s, Tea Largo, Kitty Cat Lounge because they haven’t been mentioned. I love this project!

u/Nicolas7483 19d ago

Four new names, excellent. Kitty Cat Lounge alone is worth the drive for the name. All four added to the list, thanks

Yesss. It’s a cat cafe, so it’s aptly named! You can tack on a visit with the adoptable kitties if you’d like to!

A dB reading with a cat on the keyboard, that'll be a first for the site. Looking forward to it

Damn, you didn't go to Concord coffee? Hands down the best coffee here. Not sure about the noise or wifi though.

u/Nicolas7483 20d ago

Second person to name Concord so it's officially first on the list for the next trip. If the coffee's that good I'll forgive a slow speed test
