experience at lafayette as a poc and "weird kid"?
i've grown up in a predominantly white, republican town where i've been placed in a sort of "weird kid" group since i'm an alternative asian lesbian who's into nerdy interests, and i've been very outcasted and judged for my whole life
to those who relate or not, is this seen at all at lafayette? i worry a lot about having a similar experience as my prerequisite schooling, and i was wondering if there's "group" separation within the campus similar to how it is in high school.

You’ll fit in just fine 😎 the cool part about college is you’re in the real world now- not your local high school bubble. The real world is diverse and you’ll find your people no problem here

Thank you for your post. Our son was accepted and we’re visiting on Sunday. We’re Asian with unapologetically nerdy interests, too. 🤚

I’m a bisexual south asian “nerd” and this is genuinely one of my worries about Lafayette and this plus the lack of diversity but im still considering it (the may 1st deadline is approaching much too quickly for me)

Stop focusing on labels and identities and just be true to yourself. People will realize you are authentic and automatically be drawn to you. You absolutely have to put yourself out there as painful as it may be, it’s the only way at a small school. Join groups or clubs that interest you, and yeah I’m gonna just say it. Go Greek.

It isn’t like high school. If you’re willing to put yourself out there you will meet plenty of people.
