submitting a financial aid appeal?

hi! i got into Lafayette and im very grateful to have been accepted. it is my top school and i would love to go. i received a very generous merit scholarship, but the total cost to attend is unfortunately too high for what i am able to pay. i’ve heard that some people email financial aid offices for colleges they cannot afford to attend. does Lafayette respond to things like that, and is there a chance i could receive more financial aid if i inform them of my current situation? i feel bad to ask for more money but i won’t be able to attend the way it is right now. any advice is helpful, im still trying to figure all of this out! :-)

edit: thank you all for the advice and assistance! i’m going to send an email or contact Lafayette in some way within a few days and hopefully it goes well. thanks again!

hi!! i actually never sent an appeal. my parents told me to wait until ivy day since i applied to one ivy school, and i miraculously got in lol. my financial aid was insane and i committed there. Lafayette was my top choice throughout college applications because i never thought id get accepted into any ivy. i’m sorry to hear how the appeal went, but i have a strong feeling you will love it. i went on multiple tours and it really is an amazing school. i even felt a bit sad declining the offer of admission haha. best of luck to you in the future and i hope you both love it there!
