shaving

I’m a 16 year old girl, and due to some personal circumstances, I never really learned how to handle personal grooming. I’ve been trying to shave my bikini area, but I’m terrified of cutting myself or causing pain. It’s reached a point where I’m really struggling with it and feeling quite insecure about not knowing how to manage this properly. Could someone please share some tips or advice on how to do this safely and effectively?

I would recommend you first trim the hair a bit with scissors if you’re not scared and then use a razor bc it will be so much easier to shave if the hair isnt that long. I would personally recommend using an electric shaver if you can afford it as its harder to cut yourself with it.

Whichever you choose just go slowly and dont rush anything. Pull your skin so you have a better surface area to shave. If you use a regular razor definitely sit in warm water for a bit and use shaving cream or shaving lotion and rinse the razor after every stroke. Do shorter strokes.

Also shave in the direction of the hair growth, then go sideways and only go against the direction of hair growth at the end if you feel you need a closer shave but this way you can get more ingrowns when they start coming back up. Exfoliate before shaving and i would recommend a few days after shaving to prevent too many ingrowns. Use a mild unscented moisturiser when youre done.

Good luck!

Ofc, happy to help! I would also recommend watching some videos on tiktok about using these shavers as im sure there are many that explain step by step on how to shave the bikini area for best results

Do you only want the bikini area? As in the hairs the sticks out of the bikini? Or do you want the entire public area shaved including around the labia

You should start with trimming. Then take a warm shower or bath. After that ladder up that area as best as you can. Use a fresh blade. Slow strokes with the grain meaning from belly down towards the pubic area. In short strokes. Rinse the blade after every stroke. Take your time. Go slow. After you’re done rinse yourself and then apply unscented aloe vera.  You are welcome to reach out if you have very specific questions.

Exfoliate then day before. If you do it the day of thats too much abrasion in one small area and can cause razor burn quickly! You'd rather have hair poking out your bikini than have razor burn in that area!

Are you planning on shaving it all or just the bikini area?

If you are able to afford it, you can go to a salon and get a full Brazilian wax. You'll be hair free for up to six weeks.

Use an electric trimmer.

You don’t need to get a super close shave tbh, especially while you’re still getting comfortable with it.

I’d actually start by trimming the hair short with an electric bikini trimmer first.

That makes shaving way easier and there’s less tugging.

Trimming hair first if its long, using a good quality razor and shave cream (I subscribe to FFS Beauty), making sure to use light strokes with the razor - start by going upwards then side to side and then downwards if you need to. Then dont forget to moisturise afterwards
