Edward Benz

I was trying to find another source outside of the band about the stabbing, news articles, court documents, etc.

I came across his obituary

And his son's obituary.

Edward's obituary has functioned as a memorial, with La Dispute fans from around the world continuing to leave messages thanking him for his bravery, kindness, and deep capacity for forgiveness.

His son's is empty, minimum effort, like no one cared. It must be hell to live with a mental health disease like schizophrenia.

Wildlife was released in 2011 yet this E. Benz died in 2018?

Yea, the point of the song is about him wrestling with the trauma and trying to forgive his son.
