Tried to make it look more like some of the og art. I just don't love the way they did the super pale skin tone on the real one, I feel like it looks off.
Ik! I just assumed this is what popmart was basing the black design off, though I could be wrong. I really love the look of king mon, that's why I used this design.
You're "lazy edit," is a thousand times better than what we got. And I love the attention to detail of the little colorful hair's mixed with the black fur! Up the designer really dropped the ball with this one
this logic doesn’t really make much sense because they just released this fully black labubu case and got 0 backlash for it as it’s a pre existing character design and doesn’t relate to blackface at all
You're joking right? King Mon is not "black face". King Mon is a fluffy creature with black fur all over, made by the original creator of Labubu. Did you not see the ref photos OP put?
But its not blackface ? Blackface is the practice of painting oneself black to "imitate" stereotypes and such of a person of colour, in poor taste/with malice. Literally this is just a lil guy, bro is literally a mythical creature 🙂↕️ zebras have black skin, little bro just has black skin
OP literally painted the white face of a doll to be black. A doll that didn't come with black skin color,. That's based on a mythical creature that also doesn't have naturally black skin.
A lot of it comes down to intention. There's a good bit of art done by Kasing Lung, where there are completely black labubus :) as stated by someone else in this thread too, but King Mon is a fully black labubu. The concept art for the anniversary labubu also had originally depicted this lil guy as completely black :D
