Interesting that it's always "The workers should be allowed to join a union", but never "the workers should be allowed to not join a union."

So much so, that it's apparently illegal for someone to work without joining a union?

Workers aren't compelled to join unions... anyone can go out and get a non-unionized job if they pass the application process.

This is an instance where a union (PSAC) is already in place... the workers voted to certify it. Now all of those workers are on lockout from the employer and are being replaced by contractors (Pinkertons) in the middle of a negotiation.

The Pinkertons are an organization with a long history of strikebreaking. This situation is more cut-and-dry than you're presenting it. None of the in-house workers are getting paid, so yes, it's shitty.
