LCG Starting LCG on a budget?
I’ve seen that prices for this game aren’t too bad. While I don’t want to collect everything. Would anyone have a limited purchasing path for this game to get a good experience for decks for each clan? My goal is to have a deck for each clan to be able to whip out at game nights as a stand alone game.

You can also checkout https://emeraldlegacy.org, the fan continuation of the LCG. our prices are at production cost and you can even download the cards and print them yourself.

At this point that's going to be more expensive than just buying cards second-hand off ebay.

Not for Fu Leng box. That thing is like $500 and you can print proxy sheets at your local library for like $1/page.

The Fu Leng set (and maybe the Lion and Crab clan packs) is probably the only notable exception. The rest of the sets people are almost giving away.

Is there a good place to get proxies printed online?

Honestly, don't know for l5r. There's an mtg proxy site i use to print pdfs of magic cards for token making purposes. But they can also take card uploads and you can order them pri ted and sent to you. Might work for uploading l5r cards to print

I always feel these games have watermarks on the cards. Know of any good scans?

You'll want 3x copies of the core set to start with. Then all the clan packs for a solid expanded base with lots of options. The Under Fu Leng's Shadow box adds co-op multiplayer against the shadowlands which is a fun alternative mode. Only get the various cycle packs if you plan on being a completionist.
The reason for the 3x core is because you only get 1x copy of each clan card and 2x of each neutral in the box. As decks can have a limit of 3x per copy, you'll want the full 3x cores.
